1. Executive summary
This survey was conducted to get a better look at students’ opinion about Artevelde
University College and its program Business management. Its purpose was to find out what
improvements can be made to the students’ advantage. Certain topics like transportation,
schedules, courses and others were discussed. This was an online survey, created with
Google Forums and was taken by seventeen students. The survey consisted of two types of
questions: One type of questions was aimed at the quality of the program, while the other
type of questions was aimed at the quality of Artevelde University College itself.
The results show that in general students are quite satisfied with the program’s current
state, especially with how the classes are taught and the weekly amount of classes. In fact
there is only one survey topic on which the program scores poorly and that is the course
“Talent and Management Development”. Almost half of the students is not convinced of its
added value. This certainly is an area of improvement for the program. Furthermore the
results show that the students are pleased with the school’s state as well. They are mainly
pleased with the school’s accessibility.
Having the majority of its students satisfied is a good start, but cannot be the end. As an
institute for higher education, Artevelde University College must strive for perfection, trying
to satisfy all its students. The school already conducts a survey, questioning students’
satisfaction. However, this only happens once a year and should be done twice or three
times a year. This way, shortcomings could be revealed faster which would give Artevelde
University College the chance to adapt and improve a lot quicker.
2. Introduction
The purpose of this task was to gain more inside in the opinions of students about Artevelde
University College. In specific their opinion about the Business management program. They
were asked their opinion on certain topics through an online survey. Those topics include
transportation, courses and schedules. The findings from this survey will be discussed in the
following business report. The report will discuss the findings and make recommendations.
3. Findings and discussions
3.1. Do you have problems with the free periods between your classes?
We can conclude that 58.8 % has no problems with the free periods between the different
classes. Most of them have a second stay here in Gent, so it’s easy to have a little break
there. On the other hand, 41.2 % has some problems with the free periods. A reason for this
could be for example the way how they come to school. Some of them have a bad
connection with their train.
3.2. Do you think the course talent and management development is relevant for
this program?
When we have a look at the graph we can see clearly that 47.1% of the surveyed think that
the course talent and management development is not relevant for this program. We asked
some of them why they did not found the course relevant and they answered that they did
not see the link between this course and the program. They found that you can give this
course in almost every program. 35.3% does not really have an opinion and answered
maybe. Only 17.6% of the surveyed said yes. They found that this course really helps you to
develop yourself.
3.3. How is the communication with your teachers
We can conclude that the biggest part of students thinks the communication with their
teachers is good which is 64.7%, the smallest part thinks it’s excellent. The remaining part
which is 29.4% thinks the communication with their teachers is neutral. No one thinks the
communication is bad so this is a positive thing.
3.4. Do you have difficulties with going to your campus?
On this graph you can see that only 5.9 % of the students have difficulties with going to
campus. We can conclude that the campuses have easy access and the majority has no
problem with going to their campus.
3.5. What do you think of the relationship between the work level and the credit of
the course?
When we have a look at the relationship between the work level and the credit of the course
we can see that 52.9 % of the students think the relationship is neutral. 41.2% of the
students think the relationship between the work level and the credit of the course is good,
so they think that the work is equally divided as the credit of the course. The remaining part
of the students think the relationship is not good, so they may think that there is too much
work in comparison with the credit of the course or to less.
3.6. Do you think the first general year is a good idea?
A majority of the students thinks the first general year is a good idea. 5.9 % of the students
does not think it is a good idea to have a first general year. And 23.5% of the students do not
really have an opinion. The majority of the students finds the first general year a good idea
because you are giving the time to decide in which direction you want to go. The different
courses give you an idea of all graduation programs.
3.7. What do you think about the communication with your study coach?
Most of our audience had a good communication with his/her study coach. For these
people, it’s important to have a good connection with the study coach. The study coach is a
handy person, because he/she will help you to reach your degree at the end of your school
career. No one of the respondents answered that they had a bad communication with their
coach. The other 35.3 % answered neutral.
3.8. What do you think of the weekly amount of study courses?
Only 17.6% of the students finds the weekly amount of study courses too much. The other
82.4% finds the amount perfect. Nobody finds the weekly amount of study courses too little.
We can conclude that the majority of students finds the weekly amount of study courses
perfect.
3.9. What do you think about the teachers support outside of class?
When we take a look at the teachers support outside of class we can conclude that most of
the students are neutral about it. They do not think it is bad and they do not think it is good.
Another 40% of the students thinks the support outside of class is good, so they think they
get enough help of the teachers after their working hours. The remaining part of the
students think the support outside of class is not good. They do not think they get enough
help outside of class and they would like to get more help after the working hours of the
students.
3.10. What do you think about the content of your exams?
Looking at this graph we can conclude that the biggest part of the students which is 82.4 %
thinks the content of their exams is neutral. They do not think that the exams are too
difficult and they do not think that the exams are too easy. The questions on the exams are
well divided. The remaining part of the students which is 17.6 %, thinks the exams are
difficult.
3.11. Do you think the amount of individual tasks is similar to the group tasks?
When we take a look at this graph, we can conclude that the majority (64.7%) of the
students answered no on the question if the individual tasks are similar to the group tasks.
Most of the students prefers group tasks before an individual task. The biggest reason for
this, is that they can work together. You can always count on your other group members,
when there is something unclear.
3.12. What do you think about the planning of your exams?
This graph shows what the students think about the planning of their exams. 23.5 % finds
the planning of their exams good. Only 5.9 % thinks the planning of their exams is done
poorly. The majority of the students (70.6 %) gave a neutral answer on the question about
the planning of their exams. They do not find the planning done poorly nor excellent.
3.13. Do you think the relationship between your theory and practicums is well
divided?
64.7 % of the surveyed said yes to the question “Do you think the relationship between your
theory and practicums is well divided?”. 29.4 % does not really have an opinion and
answered maybe. Only 5.9 % answered no to this question.
3.14. What do you think of the teaching skills?
Most of the surveyed people (70.6%) found that the teaching skills are good. 17.6% found
that the teaching skills are neutral. A minority of 5.9% said that it depends on the teacher.
Another minority of 5.9% said that some are good some are very bad.
3.15. What do you think of the amount of students per class?
When we look at this graph we can easily conclude that all the students think the number of
students per class is well divided and there are no students who think the classes are too big
or too small. This means the students find no problems working in classes divided by
Artevelde.
4. Conclusion
In general we can conclude that the results for the program business management at the
Artevelde University College are good. The students are happy about the communications
with the teachers and their study coach. There was also almost nobody who has difficulties
going to the campus. The weekly amount of study courses and the amount of students per
class also scored very well. Furthermore we clearly see that the relationship between the
work level and the credit of the course are well divided. This conclusion also applies to the
relationship between the theory courses and practicums. The general first year and the
content of the exams were received in a very positive way. Not only the teaching skills but
also the teachers support outside of class are facts where the Artevelde University College
can be proud about.
However there are still some parts that can be improved for example the free periods
between the classes. Some students do not have a second place to stay at and do not like to
stay hours doing nothing on campus. Another matter that can be improved is the course
talent and management development. Almost 50% of the students do not think this course is
relevant for the program. Furthermore we can conclude that the amount of individual tasks
is not well divided compared to the group tasks. And finally, we had a look at the planning of
the exams where we clearly could see space for improvement. The results were not negative
nor positive.
5. Recommendations
We would recommend avoiding too long free periods between classes. Some students do
not like to wait and go home instead of attending classes. Another recommendation is
making the course talent and management development more relevant to the program.
We would also propose finding a better balance between the individual tasks and group
tasks. Finally we would recommend to make a better planning for the exams which will
improve the results of the students.

program. They answered questions about certain topics through an online survey. Those
topics include transportation, courses and schedules. The findings from this survey will be
discussed in the following business report. The report will handle the findings and make

The conclusion of this graph is that all the students think the number of students per class is
well divided and there are no students who think the classes are too big or too small. This
means the students have no problem with working in classes that are divided by Artevelde
University College.
3. Conclusion
In general, the results for the program Business Management at the Artevelde University
College are good. The students are happy about the communication with the teachers and
their study coach. There is practically no one who has difficulties going to the campus. The
weekly amount of study courses and the amount of students per class also scored very well.
Furthermore, we can clearly see that the amount of work and the credit of the course is well
divided. This conclusion also applies to the relationship between the lectures and
practicums. The general first year and the content of the exams were experienced in a very
positive way. Not only the teaching skills, but also the teachers’ support outside of class, are
points where the Artevelde University College can be proud about.
However, there are still some points that can be improved, for example the free periods
between the classes. Some students do not have a second place in Ghent to stay at and do
not like to stay on campus with nothing to do. Another matter that can be improved is the
course Talent and Management Development. Almost 50% of the students do not think this
course is relevant for the program. Furthermore, there is a disparity between the amount of
individual tasks and the group tasks. And finally, the planning of the exams where we could
clearly see space for improvement. The results were negative nor positive.
4. Recommendations
Based on our conclusion, the programs meets most of the expectations of the students
Business Management. But there is still space for improvement. We would recommend
avoiding too long free periods between classes. Some students do not like to wait and go
home rather than attending classes. Another recommendation is, make the course Talent
and Management Development more relevant to the program. Furthermore, by making
annual feedback on the teachers mandatory, Artevelde University College will have a better
view on the different teaching skills of their teachers. We would also propose to find a better
balance between the individual tasks and group tasks. Finally, we would recommend to
make a better planning for the exams which will improve the results of the students.

  • 5. 1. Executive summary This survey was conducted to get a better look at students’ opinion about Artevelde University College and its program Business management. Its purpose was to find out what improvements can be made to the students’ advantage. Certain topics like transportation, schedules, courses and others were discussed. This was an online survey, created with Google Forums and was taken by seventeen students. The survey consisted of two types of questions: One type of questions was aimed at the quality of the program, while the other type of questions was aimed at the quality of Artevelde University College itself. The results show that in general students are quite satisfied with the program’s current state, especially with how the classes are taught and the weekly amount of classes. In fact there is only one survey topic on which the program scores poorly and that is the course “Talent and Management Development”. Almost half of the students is not convinced of its added value. This certainly is an area of improvement for the program. Furthermore the results show that the students are pleased with the school’s state as well. They are mainly pleased with the school’s accessibility. Having the majority of its students satisfied is a good start, but cannot be the end. As an institute for higher education, Artevelde University College must strive for perfection, trying to satisfy all its students. The school already conducts a survey, questioning students’ satisfaction. However, this only happens once a year and should be done twice or three times a year. This way, shortcomings could be revealed faster which would give Artevelde University College the chance to adapt and improve a lot quicker.
  • 6. 2. Introduction The purpose of this task was to gain more inside in the opinions of students about Artevelde University College. In specific their opinion about the Business management program. They were asked their opinion on certain topics through an online survey. Those topics include transportation, courses and schedules. The findings from this survey will be discussed in the following business report. The report will discuss the findings and make recommendations. 3. Findings and discussions 3.1. Do you have problems with the free periods between your classes? We can conclude that 58.8 % has no problems with the free periods between the different classes. Most of them have a second stay here in Gent, so it’s easy to have a little break there. On the other hand, 41.2 % has some problems with the free periods. A reason for this could be for example the way how they come to school. Some of them have a bad connection with their train.
  • 7. 3.2. Do you think the course talent and management development is relevant for this program? When we have a look at the graph we can see clearly that 47.1% of the surveyed think that the course talent and management development is not relevant for this program. We asked some of them why they did not found the course relevant and they answered that they did not see the link between this course and the program. They found that you can give this course in almost every program. 35.3% does not really have an opinion and answered maybe. Only 17.6% of the surveyed said yes. They found that this course really helps you to develop yourself.
  • 8. 3.3. How is the communication with your teachers We can conclude that the biggest part of students thinks the communication with their teachers is good which is 64.7%, the smallest part thinks it’s excellent. The remaining part which is 29.4% thinks the communication with their teachers is neutral. No one thinks the communication is bad so this is a positive thing.
  • 9. 3.4. Do you have difficulties with going to your campus? On this graph you can see that only 5.9 % of the students have difficulties with going to campus. We can conclude that the campuses have easy access and the majority has no problem with going to their campus.
  • 10. 3.5. What do you think of the relationship between the work level and the credit of the course? When we have a look at the relationship between the work level and the credit of the course we can see that 52.9 % of the students think the relationship is neutral. 41.2% of the students think the relationship between the work level and the credit of the course is good, so they think that the work is equally divided as the credit of the course. The remaining part of the students think the relationship is not good, so they may think that there is too much work in comparison with the credit of the course or to less.
  • 11. 3.6. Do you think the first general year is a good idea? A majority of the students thinks the first general year is a good idea. 5.9 % of the students does not think it is a good idea to have a first general year. And 23.5% of the students do not really have an opinion. The majority of the students finds the first general year a good idea because you are giving the time to decide in which direction you want to go. The different courses give you an idea of all graduation programs.
  • 12. 3.7. What do you think about the communication with your study coach? Most of our audience had a good communication with his/her study coach. For these people, it’s important to have a good connection with the study coach. The study coach is a handy person, because he/she will help you to reach your degree at the end of your school career. No one of the respondents answered that they had a bad communication with their coach. The other 35.3 % answered neutral.
  • 13. 3.8. What do you think of the weekly amount of study courses? Only 17.6% of the students finds the weekly amount of study courses too much. The other 82.4% finds the amount perfect. Nobody finds the weekly amount of study courses too little. We can conclude that the majority of students finds the weekly amount of study courses perfect.
  • 14. 3.9. What do you think about the teachers support outside of class? When we take a look at the teachers support outside of class we can conclude that most of the students are neutral about it. They do not think it is bad and they do not think it is good. Another 40% of the students thinks the support outside of class is good, so they think they get enough help of the teachers after their working hours. The remaining part of the students think the support outside of class is not good. They do not think they get enough help outside of class and they would like to get more help after the working hours of the students.
  • 15. 3.10. What do you think about the content of your exams? Looking at this graph we can conclude that the biggest part of the students which is 82.4 % thinks the content of their exams is neutral. They do not think that the exams are too difficult and they do not think that the exams are too easy. The questions on the exams are well divided. The remaining part of the students which is 17.6 %, thinks the exams are difficult.
  • 16. 3.11. Do you think the amount of individual tasks is similar to the group tasks? When we take a look at this graph, we can conclude that the majority (64.7%) of the students answered no on the question if the individual tasks are similar to the group tasks. Most of the students prefers group tasks before an individual task. The biggest reason for this, is that they can work together. You can always count on your other group members, when there is something unclear.
  • 17. 3.12. What do you think about the planning of your exams? This graph shows what the students think about the planning of their exams. 23.5 % finds the planning of their exams good. Only 5.9 % thinks the planning of their exams is done poorly. The majority of the students (70.6 %) gave a neutral answer on the question about the planning of their exams. They do not find the planning done poorly nor excellent.
  • 18. 3.13. Do you think the relationship between your theory and practicums is well divided? 64.7 % of the surveyed said yes to the question “Do you think the relationship between your theory and practicums is well divided?”. 29.4 % does not really have an opinion and answered maybe. Only 5.9 % answered no to this question.
  • 19. 3.14. What do you think of the teaching skills? Most of the surveyed people (70.6%) found that the teaching skills are good. 17.6% found that the teaching skills are neutral. A minority of 5.9% said that it depends on the teacher. Another minority of 5.9% said that some are good some are very bad. 3.15. What do you think of the amount of students per class?
  • 20. When we look at this graph we can easily conclude that all the students think the number of students per class is well divided and there are no students who think the classes are too big or too small. This means the students find no problems working in classes divided by Artevelde.
  • 21. 4. Conclusion In general we can conclude that the results for the program business management at the Artevelde University College are good. The students are happy about the communications with the teachers and their study coach. There was also almost nobody who has difficulties going to the campus. The weekly amount of study courses and the amount of students per class also scored very well. Furthermore we clearly see that the relationship between the work level and the credit of the course are well divided. This conclusion also applies to the relationship between the theory courses and practicums. The general first year and the content of the exams were received in a very positive way. Not only the teaching skills but also the teachers support outside of class are facts where the Artevelde University College can be proud about. However there are still some parts that can be improved for example the free periods between the classes. Some students do not have a second place to stay at and do not like to stay hours doing nothing on campus. Another matter that can be improved is the course talent and management development. Almost 50% of the students do not think this course is relevant for the program. Furthermore we can conclude that the amount of individual tasks is not well divided compared to the group tasks. And finally, we had a look at the planning of the exams where we clearly could see space for improvement. The results were not negative nor positive. 5. Recommendations We would recommend avoiding too long free periods between classes. Some students do not like to wait and go home instead of attending classes. Another recommendation is making the course talent and management development more relevant to the program. We would also propose finding a better balance between the individual tasks and group tasks. Finally we would recommend to make a better planning for the exams which will improve the results of the students. Indicative partial score: BP

  • 40. 3. Conclusion In general, the results for the program Business Management at the Artevelde University College are good. The students are happy about the communication with the teachers and their study coach. There is practically no one who has difficulties going to the campus. The weekly amount of study courses and the amount of students per class also scored very well. Furthermore, we can clearly see that the amount of work and the credit of the course is well divided. This conclusion also applies to the relationship between the lectures and practicums. The general first year and the content of the exams were experienced in a very positive way. Not only the teaching skills, but also the teachers’ support outside of class, are points where the Artevelde University College can be proud about. However, there are still some points that can be improved, for example the free periods between the classes. Some students do not have a second place in Ghent to stay at and do not like to stay on campus with nothing to do. Another matter that can be improved is the course Talent and Management Development. Almost 50% of the students do not think this course is relevant for the program. Furthermore, there is a disparity between the amount of individual tasks and the group tasks. And finally, the planning of the exams where we could clearly see space for improvement. The results were negative nor positive. 4. Recommendations Based on our conclusion, the programs meets most of the expectations of the students Business Management. But there is still space for improvement. We would recommend avoiding too long free periods between classes. Some students do not like to wait and go home rather than attending classes. Another recommendation is, make the course Talent and Management Development more relevant to the program. Furthermore, by making annual feedback on the teachers mandatory, Artevelde University College will have a better view on the different teaching skills of their teachers. We would also propose to find a better balance between the individual tasks and group tasks. Finally, we would recommend to make a better planning for the exams which will improve the results of the students.
