The media teacher provided feedback on the student's first advert. The teacher noted positives like the effective use of music to add comedy and youthful editing with quick cuts. However, negatives included poor lighting that resulted in silhouettes, cutting off parts of actors' heads which looked unprofessional, and overusing handheld camerawork which made the video inconsistent and messy.
2. Context behind the Feedback
• When I did my first advert, my media teacher pointed out multiple negatives
within the advert itself, including the shots and the editing.
4. • We had a good use of music. It added to the comedic effect I was going for
within my Advert, it also added to the acting. In this shot you can hear
“What is Love?” by Haddaway in the background as our actor dances to it in
a comedic way
5. • The editing was good, the cuts gave a quick and youthful vibe towards the
advertisement. In these shots for example, we used quick cuts to create a
fast dynamic to attract a young audience to our product.
7. • The lighting in some shots was not as great as we could’ve done, we could
only see a silhouette of the actor dancing. It would’ve been improved
greatly if we had good lighting.
8. • The head space in my advert could’ve been better as we cut off some parts
of the actors head. This made the advert look unprofessional and un-neat
and messy.
9. • We could’ve used more camera techniques, this includes not using handheld
a lot as it made the advert incredibly inconsistent as the video went off and
didn’t linger on anything for too long. Handheld also made it look messy.
