The term "craft" denotes a skill.
this skill (Craft) is usually employed in
branches of the decorative arts (eg.
ceramics), or in an associated artistic practice
(eg. lace-making).
A key feature of crafts is that they involve a
high degree of "hands-on" craftsmanship. It
is also known as handicrafts.
3. crafts describe a wide variety of activities
involving making things with one's own hands.
Some crafts that are practiced by artists
working alone, they are sometimes referred to
as"studio craft".
Metal work, wood turning, glass blowing, and
glass art are examples of "studio crafts", as is
pottery.

There are many different varieties of
handicrafts. The various types of craft include
but not limited to the following:
Textiles
Embroidery, Felt-making, Knitting, Lace-
making, Macramé, Quilting, Tapestry art,
Weaving.
Woodcraft
Wood-carving, Wood-turning, Cabinet
making, Furniture making, lacquerware.

Paper Modelling, Collage, Decoupage,
Origami paper folding, Papier-mâché. Etc
Pottery and Glass Crafts
Ceramics (earthenware, stoneware, porcelain),
Mosaic Art, Glass Beadmaking, Glass Blowing,

Jewellery
Includes metalwork involving processes like
embossing, repoussé work, engraving,
enamelling (types include champlevé, basse
taille, granulation and filigree decoration. etc
6. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ART AND CRAFT
Art has no limitations of expression, just like
in painting WHILE Craft on the other hand is
structured, which means that it has a certain
form that is visible.
It is more difficult to quantified art WHILE
Craft can be quantified.
Art is a result of a person’s innate talents
WHILE skill in craft can be acquired with
experience.
7. MOTIF
MOTIF is a unit of design which is repeated
severally to form a pattern.
MOTIF describes any key idea that is
emphasized in a creative piece through
consistent repetition.
MOTIF is a recurring theme or design that
appears in a work of art.
Note:pattern is an arrangement of regular and
repeated motifs so as to create rhythm in lines,
shapes, and colors. Pattern features in textile
design, wall papers, wrappers, carpets, boarder
designs etc.

11. There are two majore forms of Motif
namely, Minor Motif and Major Motif.
Minor Motif: this is also known as simple
motif. It is a motif arranged beside each
other on each row both vertically and
horizontally.
Major Motif: this is the intricate Designs
that are arranged using any repeat pattern.
