2. About plaster
• The word “PLASTER” comes from Greek
language meaning “to daub on”.
• In the past, plaster was based on lime, but
today it is also based on “gypsum” and
“cement”.
• Plaster is applied to wall or other surfaces as
a wet mixture of binding material (lime,
cement or gypsum), aggregate (usually sand)
and water.
3. •This is the process of covering rough surface
with a plastic material to obtain an even ,
smooth , regular , clean and durable surface.
On other hand we can say that :- A
mixture of lime or gypsum , sand and water
,sometimes with added fibers used for coating
of walls and ceiling.
4. The objective of plastering are
1. to conceal defective workmanship
2. to give smooth surface to avoid
catching of dust.
3. to give good look.
4. to protect the wall from rain water
and other atmospheric agencies.
6. INTERNAL PLASTERING
Type of interior plastering are :-
Lime Plaster
Cement Plaster
Lime and Cement Plaster (Stucco)
7. Should be fire and sound
Should provide a smooth ,non absorbent
and washable surface
Should be weather proof
Should be free from volumetric changes
while setting and drying
It should adhere to the background
easily
It should prevent penetration by moisture
It should be cheap
