2. EMPOWERED WORK
Own your own diary | Be Brave,
Be Collaborative, Be Authentic
and Be Trusting
We’re committed to a culture where people can do their best
work. Our culture lives in our behaviours not our offices - we
focus on amazing outputs and not where or when they’re
delivered. Traditional 9-5 no longer suits everyone - we each
have individual needs, commitments and ways to deliver
our best. When it comes to work, we believe in trust and
transparency - it makes us accountable, boosts confidence
and makes us happier, healthier, and more productive
colleagues.
Empowered working isn’t a perk, it’s a reality. By working
when and where you are most productive and effective, it
benefits us all. We flex our schedules to meet client needs, we
enable great outcomes, our people thrive, and we continue to
attract outstanding talent.
There’s no ‘one-size fits all’ and no ‘tick-box’ of restricted
choices here. We each balance the needs of our clients, team
and colleagues, with our personal needs and commitments.
We trust you to take control. Work is not what you come into
the office for, it is something you do.
Our commitments to you Empowered Work Principles
• We foster an empowered working culture while
strengthening collaboration.
• We provide the flexibility, agility and tools/infrastructure to
deliver great client outcomes.
• We believe in leading by example – our leaders work flexibly
and actively support you to own the way you work.
• We consider the needs of each team and how they work, to
achieve the right balance.
• We agree expectations on performance and delivery – we
trust, empower and arm you to achieve those outcomes.
• We focus on effectiveness and great outcomes - not
measuring time ‘onsite’ or when present ‘online’.
• Our starting point is to assume that anything can be done
flexibly - we build from there based on team, business and
client needs.
• All planned team and day-to-day interactions have a digital-
first mind-set - no-one should feel disadvantaged by not
travelling to a physical location.
• Empowered working will not hinder career progression or
development.
1. OWN IT: only you know how you work best - we each have our
own preferences that enable us to be most productive.
2. PLAN & PRIORITISE: agree as a team how you ensure client
delivery remains a priority and covered; and always keep
calendars up to date.
3. YOU’RE ACCOUNTABLE: with great empowerment comes
great responsibility - always consider colleague, client and team
needs; and keep your commitments.
4. TALK: arrange regular check-ins with your leader to talk about
how you are doing, what you’ve achieved, and your future goals
and priorities.
5. TRANSPARENT: Clear, open, two-way communication is key.
Use your diary and team conversations to let people know when
and where you’re working; set expectations on email or call
response times and availability. It’s not someone else’s job to
find you!
6. BETTER, TOGETHER: Team time is important – in person or
digitally. Make time to strengthen relationships, create, innovate
and collaborate.
7. BUILD CONFIDENCE: Spread the word! Share experiences
and tips across teams, help us all evolve and learn how we work
better.
3. Our commitments to you
You hate commuting daily and see it as
wasted time. You balance your working week,
commuting to a Hub workspace when needed
1 or 2 times a week to meet team members or
clients. Time saved from the commute is used for
training for a 10k run and spending more time in
the morning with their family.
You love exploring your passions and developing
new skills both professionally and personally.
You manage your time to have a music lesson at
3pm on Thursday providing time for practice at
the weekend. By taking time out for your violin
lesson, you feel calmer and more focused.
You work best later in the day rather than
working a 9-5, you manage your diary to
start and finish your day later, in and around
client meetings or work/team needs. You
work remotely when you need to focus and
concentrate on complex tasks, cases or projects.
You visit hubs to catch up with colleagues and
collaborate on client work.
You love variety; you thrive from meeting
individuals and clients for a coffee, collaborating
online or face to face with team members.
You adjust your diary to what you need to
professionally and personally accomplish, no
week is the same, but your fantastic outputs are.
You are the early bird, up at dawn and ready to
take on what you want to accomplish! You are
focussed on your team and clients' needs; always
providing amazing service. You manage your
time in the afternoon to pick up the kids from
school, volunteer locally or visit a relative.
You like to keep on the move! Balancing
wellbeing and not being sat at a desk all day is
important to you. Calls on the move, a walking
meeting with a colleague, working at a standing
desk in our hub spaces before dashing to the gym
for a workout. You leave the hub mid-afternoon
to focus on concentrated work at home.
You live for the moments that matter – that
client/team win, supporting clients/people to
achieve their dreams, navigate life and business.
The moments that matter are also that Sports
Day, Graduation Day, supporting a friend or
loved one. You manage your diary and how you
work to build all moments that matter each year,
month and week into your life.
Working 9-5, it’s your way to make a living and
it’s how you like to work! You find structured
time works for you best; you balance meetings
and time for focus and spend 3-4 days a week
in a hub space. You welcome the flexibility and
freedom when you want to mix it up or have life
admin to take care of!
No matter who you are or what works for you, you can unlock your empowered working potential!
