Fundamentals for Success
Leadership
Lead by example (people in charge set the pace).
Set demanding quality standards.
Meet regularly to coordinate, plan, collaborate and listen.
Give credit freely.
Sweat equity
The lights go on early and stay on late.
E-mails and calls outside of normal business hours are a good sign.
Always be ready to make a call and to answer the call.
Integrity
Is essential.
Once broken, is nearly impossible to repair.
When shared, elevates integrity in others.
Passion
Do what you love.
Love what you do.
Shared passion is contagious.
Teamwork
Identify and build allies at every opportunity.
Collaborate within you firm, and throughout your profession and community.
Think things through: plan and then follow the plan.
Perspective
You can and do make a difference.
Carry yourself with confidence, but not cockiness.
Focus on understanding and meeting client’s needs and solving problems.
Don’t be indecisive. Recognize that not making a decision is a decision.
Getting the Job Done
When loaded with work, roll up your sleeves and get it done.
When underutilized, work even harder – your survival is on the line.
Difficult times are where leaders are defined.
Never think you are too busy to market.
Business Sense
Defend the value you bring and the fees that come with it.
Write solid proposals with well developed scopes.
Don’t be reluctant to call an extra an extra.
Understand the importance of our contract terms and conditions.
Those that don’t share our values should be offered the opportunity to have a
great future elsewhere.
