• Natural gas accounted for 88% of new power generation in United
states in between 2000 to 2010.
• 22% of the world total electricity are generated through the gas
power plant
• Above 80% of natural gas is using now to produce an electricity.
• The maximum efficiency of this power plant is 25%.

5. • It works based on the principle of “BRAYTON CYCLE”.
• Spinning turbine drives the generator that converts mechanical
energy into the electrical energy.
• Compressor supplies high pressure air for combustion process.
• Fuel required:
• It can adopted to almost any flammable gases. And Petrol, Diesel are
commonly used as fuel.

compared with steam turbines.
• High power-to-weight ratio.
• Require much less water than steam turbines power plants.
• Smaller size and weight compared to steam turbines.
• Less space is needed for installation.
