Ruth Messing worked as Signature Media’s graphic designer from April 2003
through September 2014, until the closing of our main product, which led to a
reduction in our work force.
She worked on all of our products, including StyleLine magazine; Prime
magazine; Michigan College Guide; custom publishing products and several
special sections for the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News. During that
time, I came to respect Ruth for her strong work ethic as well as her solid
design skills.
She is hard-working, punctual and reliable, and takes direction very well. Her
knowledge of graphic design is based solidly in the foundations of art and she
is skilled in several software programs, including Adobe InDesign, Photo-
Shop and Illustrator.
As a designer, she is highly creative, building clever designs that successfully
illustrated our copy. She never missed a deadline, often staying late to get the
job done so we could meet our print dates. Ruth often anticipated our depart-
ment’s needs and volunteered to do more than originally asked.
