Objectivity
•It should be free from any subjectivity (personal
judgment regarding ability, skill, traits, knowledge to be
measured and evaluated).
•Instruction should be uniform.
•The scores must be independent of rater’s bias or
individual’s own beliefs
•Administration, scoring pattern should be uniform.
•There should be standard scoring system. Individual
scores with respect to norms provide accurate information
about diagnosis of individual.
4. Dr. D. Dutta Roy, Indian Statistical Institute
Reliability
• Reliability refers to the
consistency of scores
obtained by the same
persons when re-
examined with the same
questionnaire on different
occasions, or with
different sets of
equivalent items, or under
other variable examining
conditions.
•Test – retest reliability
•Alternate – form
reliability
•Split-half reliability
•Rational equivalence
•Cronbach’s
coefficient alpha
5. Dr. D. Dutta Roy, Indian Statistical Institute
Validity
•The degree to
which a
questionnaire
actually measures
whatever it
purports to
measure.
•Content validity
•Construct validity
•Criterion validity
•Differential validity
6. Dr. D. Dutta Roy, Indian Statistical Institute
Item
•Unit of the construct;
•Indicates component
of behaviour of the
construct.
•Item analysis
•Individual item
discrimination
•Item-total correlation
•Distractor analysis
7. Dr. D. Dutta Roy, Indian Statistical Institute
Construct
•It is the abstraction of
concept.
•Theory is made of
postulates.
•And postulates are
made of constructs.
•Construct is uni-and
multidimensional.
•Multi-dimensional
construct includes
several sub constructs.
8. Dr. D. Dutta Roy, Indian Statistical Institute
Individual difference
Behavior varies within
and across individuals
over time.
•Intra Individual
•Inter individual
•Intra group
•Inter groups
•Individual and group
9. Dr. D. Dutta Roy, Indian Statistical Institute
Predictability
•Questionnaire is
