Site Induction For Your Safety
Introduction
This induction is given to all operatives before they work on site.
It provides you with specific information about the project, the team
undertaking the work and how you can actively participate in the safe
completion of the works.
The company expects employees to put Safety First before anything else
3. The Project
Installation of a 16.2 MW Photovoltaic Plant.
Erecting security fencing;
Driving the framework into the ground;
Affixing the panels to the mounting frames;
Trenching for the cable runs to depth of approximately 1m, and laying cables;
Installation of the inverter, transformer cabinets, control room and substation;

5. Responsibilities and Duty of Care
You have a legal duty to take care of your own Health &
Safety as well as people around you.
You must inspect your own workplace before starting work
and during work regularly.
You have a legal responsibility regarding the Health &
Safety of members the public.(NB unauthorised entry)
It is the responsibility of all personnel to improve Health &
Safety standards.
6. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Minimum PPE requirements (to be worn at all times):
Hard hat
Safety boots
High visibility vest
Gloves
Light eye protection (task specific)
Other items will be worn as operations dictate i.e. goggles/dust masks/ear
defenders/harnesses etc.
Your supervisor will be responsible for instructing you on when and where
these should be worn.
7. Site Rules
Wear correct fitting PPE appropriate to the operation and which is in good
condition, at all times;
Anyone considered to have taken alcohol or be under the influence of drugs
will be permanently removed from site;
Permits are required for the following operations: excavations, lifting
operation, hot works, confined space entry;
Obey all safety notices and signs;
Do not indulge in horseplay;
Do not intentionally misuse anything which is provided in the interest of
H&S or welfare facilities.
8. Site Rules
Maintain the workplace in a tidy condition free from avoidable hazards;
Report any concerns, near misses or incidents to site management immediately;
All vehicles/plant must be kept securely locked when left unattended;
A banksman shall be utilised for all plant movements;
No keys to be left in unattended vehicles;
Temporary fencing must be maintained at all times;
Mobile phones can only be used from a position of safety when person is not
directly involved in an ongoing operation.
9. Welfare Arrangements
Toilets are located in the site compound area;
A canteen is provided in the site compound area;
A drying room is provided in the site compound area.
Please ensure that welfare facilities are kept clean & tidy
10. Emergency Procedures
In the event of an emergency or fire, the alarm shall be
raised by shouting or using the horn located in the project
office.
Operatives shall follow the designated trakway route from
their working area to the site assembly point behind the
security cabin (near the entrance to site)
11. Accident & Near Miss Reporting Procedures
If you suffer an injury, how ever small please inform one of our first
aiders immediately and report it to the site manager as soon as
possible. The health & safety advisor will then enter your details into
the Accident Book located in the project office.
If you are involved in a near miss or are witness to one please help
us to prevent reoccurrence by reporting it using one of the following
ways:
• Telling a member of staff.
• Completing a near miss form located in the project office
• Telephoning the site offices

14. Environmental Protection
In the event of a spill
STOP WORK – PREVENT anymore material spilling.
Eliminate all sources of ignition if it’s flammable.
Contain the spill using bunds, absorbent pads or sand, check spills
have not reached any ditches or water courses.
Notify your supervisor of the material spilt, quantity, location of
spill, and any action taken.
Ensure that you dispose of your waste in the correct skip.
All waste must be segregated to satisfy our Duty of care to eliminate,
reduce, reuse and recycle waste bound for landfill.
