General Studies
“If your dreams don’t seem impossible,
they’re not big enough”
• Scavenger Hunt- I enjoyed the scavenger hunt because it was really helpful
for me. I think the biggest mistake we make as college students is that we don’t take
advantage of all the resources a campus provides. I was also pretty cool to find out
who’s in charge of certain departments.
• Letter To The Next Class- This assignment was by far my favorite. I liked
it because I basically got to talk about my personal opinion on the course. This
assignment also involved a lot of reflection on past experiences and that is pretty cool.
Also being able to give future students a heads up on what to expect kind of satisfies
the need to help in a way.
• Service Learning Project- This assignment was pretty cool because we
got the chance to go out of our way to give back. Being selfless is an important trait to
have because it shows your true character. I shampooed and rolled elderly women’s
hair at a beauty shop in Beacon Hill. Will definitely add that to my resume now!
• Chapter 2 Journal Entry 8- I really got a lot out of this journal. I learned
how to deal with my inner critic in situations that I'm usually negative about. Gave me
some tips on what I need to work on to improve my way of thinking as well.
• Chapter 3 Journal Entry 11- This Journal was my favorite. I got to
visualize something that I’m really passionate about. Writing down my goal in life really
helped with my motivation to putting in the work and effort needed to reaching that
goal.
• Chapter 7 Journal Entry 28- This journal required to dig deep into the
challenges that I have faced through out college, and to reflect on some past
experiences that define my character. I liked talking about my commitment because
all though it was one of the toughest things I’ve had to do, it was well worth it in the
end, and I feel like that’s the epitome of a commitment.
• Module 3: Financial Literacy and Chapter 3
Discovering Self-Motivation
• I really enjoyed this whole module because I got to find out what the
key components of motivation are. It also included my favorite
journal., and another one of my favorite assignments which was the
Service Project. I truly found out that our inner critic can make or
break our motivation to accomplish our goals and dreams.
• 1. The most important lesson that I learned from this course is that words
are powerful, and a lot of factors play into how people interpret those words.
For example tone can be the defining factor in how some one feels about a
certain word.
• 2. I’d be lying to you if I said journaling has ever crossed my mind, but
keeping a weekly journal for this class has thought me a lot about myself,
and a journal gives you that leverage to see how you are improving as a
person and student. Who knows I might become and active “journalists”
• 3. PROCRASTINATING can be a real life killer! Another thing I got from this
course is to be more aware and cautious with deadlines. You can save
yourself endless amounts of stress if you just complete things earlier rather
than right before a deadline.
• Accepting Personal Responsibility: 69-85
• Discovering Self Motivation: 70-80
• Mastering Self Management: 68-75
• Employing Interdependence: 52-68
• Gaining Self Awareness: 59-70
• Adopting Lifelong Learning: 58-71
• Developing Emotional intelligence: 49-57
• Believing in Myself: 70-75
• The most important thing about these self assessments was to be honest
with ourselves. I do actually believe that I grew a lot based on my results.
They always say one step forward always beats the hell out of one step
backwards. There are areas where I believe still need some work, but I’m
willing to put the work into improving, and this assignment helped with that.
LET
LOOSE
AND
HAVE
FUN
EVERY
• When I accomplish my goal of earning a degree in
International Business. I plan on working for a company
abroad. Preferably somewhere in Latin America. I have
always been fascinated with my own culture, so the
ability to live somewhere in Latin America would be
awesome. I would also get into real estate development
because that is what I’m really interested in. I would have
a nice home, with a beautiful family, and of course a hot
wife.
• To sum it all up, upon accomplishing my goals, I will love
the life that I chose for myself and for my family because
in the end that’s the reward you get from hard work.
