Equatorial: hot and humid in equatorial river
basin;
cooler and drier in southern highlands;
cooler and wetter in eastern highlands;
north of Equator - wet season (April to
October), dry season (December to February);
south of Equator - wet season (November to
March), dry season (April to October)
Vegetation
There are approximately 10, 000 species
of tropical plants.
Trees are tall and form canopy at the
top.
Evergreen forests.

Wildlife
Rich in wildlife. Mountain gorilla, bonobo,
chimpanzee, elephant, okapi, white rhino, forest
elephant, pangolin.
DRC is the only country in the world that is home to
three major species of great ape — gorilla,

Farming main occupation
Cash crops like cocoa, coffee, tobacco cotton
and rubber

Most people live in scattered villages.
Cassava Root crop is the staple food.
Fish is also important part of their diet.
Bantu people constitute the majority of population.

Country has poor land transport system.
Only some parts of the country have roads
and railways.
Water transport is the chief means of travel.
The country has more than 200 airports.
Kinshasa is the capital and largest city.
Other big cities are Lubumbashi, Kanaga,
Kisangani and Kikwit.
