Personal Statement: I am a former waiter, barista, and restaurant manager with skills
ranging from food preparation, inventory management, customer service & satisfaction,
communication, and MS office & computer skills.
Objective: My desire is to leverage my skills in communication, MS Office, and general
technological knowledge to find and work a part or full time position in either food
service, distribution & handling, or office work.
Experience:
1. Barista, Starbucks at The Union, West Lafayette
- From September 2015 to Present
- Job Requirements: time management, multitasking, inventory
management, stocking, retail sales, drink preparation, customer service,
and cash register operation/cash handling.
- As one of the busiest Starbucks in the state, working this position has
made me more comfortable & efficient in fast-paced and loud
environments. It had also taught me new skills in inventory management
and stocking a store, as well as refining my familiarity with point of sale
systems and cash handling.
2. Waiter/Manager, The Knuckle Sandwich, Martinsville, IN
- From January 2014 to August 2015 (waiter) and then from May 2015 to
August 2015 (manager).
- Job Requirements: waiting tables, cleaning, extensive customer service,
communication, cleaning, closing the restaurant, distributing paychecks,
scheduling, and cash handling.
- This position has given me a lot of perspective about customer service,
communication, and time management as well as relevant experience in
these areas.
2. - Due to an excellent track record with both communicating with
customers and consistently excellent service, I was asked to be a
manager for the final few months of my work at this restaurant before I
moved.
3. Freelance Web Developer
- From August 2013 to August 2015.
- Starting with a blog I created for a teacher, I worked on multi web
projects at once creating sites for individuals and organizations
(churches, personal projects)
- This position required extensive self-taught technical knowledge of both
computers in general and of specific programs such as Microsoft Office,
the Adobe suite, content management systems such as wordpress, and
web programming.
Relevant Skills:
● Communication & customer service - Working freelance, as well as working in
multiple fast-paced food service & retail environments, has taught me how to
effectively and professionally communicate with customers in order to solve,
and prevent, any possible issues regarding the service they receive or the
product I create for them.
● Word/Excel/Powerpoint - School projects, essays, and assignments I completed
required experience and knowledge with these programs. I am very familiar with
Word and PowerPoint (as well as their competitors) and experienced with Excel
(two high school projects required the use of in-cell algorithms and data
organization/visualization). I have also volunteered for about 40 hours as an in-
class instructor to help middle school students in my school district learn
general computer and MS Office skills.
