managing a large facility. Excellent organizational skills combined with the
ability to train and motivate staff whilst continuing to provide customer
service at the highest level.
Experience
Gym4all, Nottingham 2010 – Present
My role as Club Manager initially required me to oversee the transformation from an
unoccupied business unit to a successfully operational gym. A pre-opening sales
campaign was devised and executed, involving royal mail distribution and a promotional
team creating an awareness in and around the city centre, as well as networking and
relationships being developed with other businesses and organisations throughout the
city. A recruitment process allowed me to assemble a team who would deliver to the
high standards that I expected. Following the successful launch and establishment of the
Nottingham club, I was entrusted with the additional responsibility of overseeing the
opening of the Derby club in June 2011. I continue to drive the business through a
passion for health and fitness and by taking ownership of every aspect of the running of
the club.
LivingWell Health Club, Nottingham 2005 – 2009
As Health Club Manager, I was responsible for the complete running of all areas of the
club, ensuring that high standards of health & safety, customer satisfaction and staff
development were achieved at all times. My greatest challenge and achievement was
managing a full refurbishment including all building works, importation of new fitness
equipment and recruitment and training of full fitness team.
Virgin Active, The Cornerhouse, Nottingham 2001 – 2004
As part of the original team that opened the club in Nottingham, I achieved the position
of Fitness Manager. Following a successful period in this role I was given full charge of
the club as Gym Manager. As well as entrusting me with the day to day running of the
club, my role required me to manage all financial matters, ensuring the achievement of
targets and budgets in every department. I continued to recruit, supervise and train all
staff, whilst looking to assist in their personal development. High levels of customer
service were set as a priority and continually monitored and maintained in all areas of
the club.
Premier Training & Development, Holmes Place, Nottingham 2000 – 2001
I trained to a professionally competent level and became qualified in such areas as
planning and delivering safe and effective exercise programmes and classes. Being able
to carry out accurate fitness assessment procedures and conducting appropriate
physical examinations and assisting in rehabilitation of sports related injuries.
Miller Rebouse, Nottingham 1991 – 2000
2. As Logistics Manager for a brokerage company, I worked as part of a team in
conjunction with both sales and accounts departments. My responsibilities included
communicating with customers and suppliers whilst negotiating with National and
European logistics firms, achieving the most viable financial results. My duties also
included the calculating and processing of all company invoices. Furthermore I
documented all transactions in an endeavour to predict future market trends.
The Rainbow Group, Algarve, Portugal 1989 – 1991
As Manager for a chain of restaurants/bars on the Algarve, I supervised the daily running
of the establishments, and personally carried out or authorized the purchasing of all
stocks. I ensured that accurate accounts were kept and all monies deposited with the
National Bank. My position also required me to employ and manage all staff whilst
maintaining positive customer relations.
News International, Tower Hamlets, London E1 1985 – 1989
Employed in the national newspaper industry, working on a shift basis, my duties were to
create polymer plates from film negatives to be used on the printing presses. Attention to
