Personal Statement
My philosophy for life is about achieving goals for myself, my colleagues/employees and my community. I am very
outgoing, have excellent communication skills and am able to relate well to others on all levels. Having trained and
worked in the Hospitality/Sports, sales, education, financial and service sectors for over 20 years, I have excellent
business, analytical and communication skills and am driven to succeed. I proactively identify emerging issues and am
organised, capable of using my own initiative, working both alone and in teams. I am hard working, versatile, resourceful
and able to adapt to and learn new skills quickly.

Current Employment:
On returning to Cornwall, I have had the opportunity to review my career options and decided that this was an appropriate
time to change focus and use my skills, attitude and personal outlook to start to be able to put something back into wider
society. I started this process by looking to get hands on experience working with individuals with complex needs/difficulties
on practical projects working for the department of Justice. This post has given me the flexibility to concentrate on building
my own off-grid sustainable home which is nearing completion.

Sept 2014 – to date
My role is to supervise groups of offenders (up to 7) working on various “community payback” projects within the
community, driving them to and from projects, giving guidance, instruction, supervision and ensuring both they and the
community are safe within the working environment. I have also been asked to take on the training and development
programme for all new supervisors and have acquired the necessary certification including - Risk Assessment Level 2
Manual Handling, COSHH and British Red Cross – 2015 Health & Safety at Work.

Working as part of a team and on my own, maintaining gardens and commercial sites, using a range of equipment in
order to become current with practical safe working practices and procedures. This was in anticipation of my imminent
return to Cornwall and changing career focus.

Resort Sales Manager
Initially recruited to the Seasons sales team at Clowance Estate in Cornwall, promoting holidays and property via rentals
and a fractional scheme. After exceeding all targets and projections was promoted to Manager of the team at Whitbarrow
Village in the Lake District. Here I created and developed one of the most successful teams in the country through
introducing new data analysis systems, identifying sales opportunities through statistical review and recruiting and training
individuals in new techniques applications and a task ownership ethos . I was then asked to start a team from scratch at
Brunston Castle in Scotland.
2. M.R.F.S. - Positive Solutions, Cornwall
Feb 1998 – Oct 2010. Independent Financial Adviser
Started and successfully ran a self employed financial services business giving advice individually and to large teams of
upwards of 100 individuals. Grew a client base of over 1000 individuals with 100% client retention over 12 years, handling
funds from personal savings plans to large occupational pension schemes as well as high value personal investments.

Whilst running my own business I was approached to advise on degree level business modules. I was sponsored through
my teaching qualification by the college as they then commissioned me to design and run the courses myself. This
included designing, delivering and assessing the business studies modules for the Marine Sports Science and Marine
Environmental Science Degree courses. Alongside my core business modules I taught Italian to adults at evening classes
and through private tuition.

accounts and new brokerages. I looked after the whole of Cornwall and was headhunted on recommendation to Standard

self employed as a finance broker.

often used by Head office. I left to move to Cornwall when my children were born.

Work In Switzerland & Italy

Whilst travelling in Europe I worked mainly in Switzerland and Italy as a chef. During my stay in Switzerland I was also a
freelance Ski Instructor teaching co-workers of other nationalities using Italian and German.
In Italy as well as working as a chef, I also taught English as a second language to Italians. My language skills were also
useful when interviewing staff (who were in the main either German or Italian) and when ordering supplies for the
restaurant and kitchens In both restaurants I was responsbile for staffing/ordering/maintenance and quality delivery within
