July 2013 – May 2015 FJ (DASL) Environment Manager (Atlas DII/F TVP)
I am at presently one of 2 Environment Managers working at Thames Valley Park managing the
Design/Integration/Pre Production Environments.
The Atlas design/integration/test (Pre Prod) environments consists of approx. 7000 physical/virtual
servers (Windows) of which approx. 2000 of them are assigned to FJ (DASL) applications. These
environments (4 of them) are owned, managed and housed in Scotland by HP. Servers are built, in
Scotland, to a specific point and then handed to DASL for application install. DASL responsibilities are
MOSS/Meridio/K2, PKI, Web services, Messaging including MGM and asynchronous collaboration, Web
reporting all in a Veritas Clustering environment.

(DASL) design/integrator/testers are available at the times required, this includes desktops/laptops.
Responsibilities
 Attend PM work schedule meetings.
 Triage all OCR’s to identify those which could impact DASL work and present at DASL twice
weekly CAB.
 Triage all Vpads (electronic task requests) to ensure they are fit for purpose.
 Escalate urgently required Vpad’s
 Act as a communications conduit between HP/FJ environment teams.
 Hold weekly DASL environment managers meeting with AOS (HP) where ongoing issues are
discussed. Escalate non-compliance to FJ programme lead if necessary.
 Manage the allocation of physical and virtual desktops.
 Attend DASL weekly meeting to discuss schedule of Release Units into the environments.
 Ensure all environments are base lined from a DASL applications perspective.

June 2007 – June 2013 Team Lead Product Introduction (Service Transition, Planning and Support)
I worked in Service Transition, Transition Planning and Support as a Product Introduction (PI) Team Lead
on the MOD’s DII/F contract with the Atlas consortium, reporting directly to the Transition Planning and
Support Manager.
My primary responsibility was to lead a team of 5 PI analysts. The PI team’s main goal was to identify the
impact to Service Operations from a technical perspective, of proposed new service introduction. This
included ensuring that new products delivered to SO from Engineering, adhered to the Atlas Service
Operations Remote Management model and were technically sound and fit for purpose from a
management and operational perspective.
PI’s main output was the Technical Readiness Review (see below for details) which detailed all the
technical queries and answers brought up during each TRR meeting review. The TRR was aligned to the
Live Readiness Review (LRR) checkpoint run just prior to a new delivery’s exit from Engineering. The role
required a broad technical understanding of IT infrastructure which I gained during my time as an
implementation specialist as well as a good working knowledge of ITIL V3.
The PI role had close working relationships with the Service Introduction Project Managers and Service
Design Architects.
Product Introductions work included: Enterprise Directory, MOSS/AC/EDRMS (Meridio), Web Content
Management, Trust Services (PKI/Smart Cards), Medium Grade Messaging, Media Streaming Service,
Inter-Operability Gateways (CCEB/NATO,XGSI), Solaris, Network Attached Storage (NAS), CMS
(uCMDB), VMware virtualization plus review of a host of migrated and hosted apps including one for the
Olympics.
Responsibilities
 Engagement with 4th
line design and 2nd
and 3rd
line operational support SME’s
 By liaising with support SME’s, ensure designs are fit for purpose and adhere to SO (Service
Operations) remote support model.
 Facilitate/Manage technical meetings between Service Operations 2nd
/3rd
line and Engineering’s 4th
line design Subject Matter Experts
 Identify Service Operations specific requirements and manage through design lifecycle and impact
partial or non-compliance
 Communicate with senior SO management in areas of identified risk, raise risks on behalf of SO
 Arrange early life support
 Ensure PI deliverables meet project timescales
 Act as primary SO interface to Engineering in all technical aspects of designs
 Ensure that PI work as “one team” in what is a consortium of companies
 Undertake team objective settings as part of annual performance reviews
 Identify team members key skills and distribute work accordingly
 Identify PI analyst training requirements
 Communicate effectively with other ATLAS teams within Service Operations and Engineering design
 Foster a close working relationship with all areas of the project including Design and Enterprise
Infrastructure Support units
 To be involved in all technical areas that could potentially impact the way in which EIS Service
Operations operate.

________________________________________________________________________
 Organize pre Live Readiness Review meetings with impacted SO teams in order to fully understand
support teams outstanding issues there by facilitating a smooth LRR approval from each Resolver
Group.
Technical Readiness Review
 Product Introductions main deliverable is the “Technical Readiness Review”. Once completed, the
TRR contains details of the impact to all Service Operations teams. Details include identification of
the following items.
 new operational procedures
 schedule maintenance plan
 backup maintenance plans
 routine server administration
 Service Operations “out of scope” changes to the solution especially identification of both one
off and ongoing manual tasks including the requirement for onsite visits
 weaknesses within the solution and feed back to ATLAS technical authorities
 training requirements for Service Operations
 monitoring requirement
 reporting requirements for Service Operations and the customer
 identify knowledgebase articles
 crib sheets for other EIS teams
 processes that span areas of EIS
 SO derived requirements
 scripts and batch routines that are introduced to resolve an outstanding issue or simplify the
solution
PI’s involvement ceases once LRR has been approved by all Service Operations Resolver Groups
April 2005 – June 2007 (Software build/Test (FUJITSU) DII/F)
I worked for 27 months at Atlas House HQ’s in Reading, building and testing Test and Pre Production
environments for the Engineering dept. These environments included extensive use of Windows 2003,
AD, Veritas Clustering including SQL, Exchange, Print, DFS, File, DHCP and Veritas Volume Replicator
cluster services.
I spent 4 months building and integrating a deployed environment as part of the MOD’s Coalition War
Interoperability Demonstrations.
I worked with the Design/Integration/Test team for 12 months proving software and documentation,
primarily on the above products, creating test scripts, raising defects and producing test reports using Test
Director.
I implemented a PKI environment using Entrust and HSM in System Test and Pre Production.
Hands on Upgrading/migrating of W2K to W2003 (Domain Controllers W2K to W2003 and Exchange
2000 to Exchange 2003).
October 1997 – April 2005 Principle DII/C Implementation Consultant
I was Fujitsu Service’s Principle Implementation Consultant/Team Leader on the MOD’s DII/C project, this
role allowed me to keep very much hands on with the MOD’s IT strategy Windows 2000/2003 Active
Directory, where I was responsible for all technical issues regarding the onsite manual rollout of DII/C
Core Nodes. DII/C Core Nodes are an EMC SAN based N+1 resilient network based on Windows
2000/2003 with the following applications/technologies :- Exchange, SQL, MOM, IDS, SMS, DFS, STS,
SPS, EDRM/Meridio/K2, Storage Tech robot and Veritas backup. My work included time spent in the Test
and Release group and liaising with IntegrationDevelopment and the Network team. I ensured all onsite
technical issues regarding software builds were promptly and efficiently rectified and I coordinated
between various Fujitsu and 3rd
party teams. I worked extremely closely with PM’s to ensure rollout met
strict timescales. I am used to working in a team as well as on my own both at home and abroad.

My role was very much hands on and back office orientated and involved liaising with project managers,
staff within Fujitsu, testing and support units to ensure that work carried out did not impact the customers’
business.
I was on the company’s 24/7 support telephone standby scheme, worked on multi-level security classified
systems, worked with 3rd
line with on-site problem resolution, and acted as a stand-in for the I&U Manager
in his/her absence.

Technical Readiness Review  Product Introductions main deliverable is the “Technical Readiness Review”. Once completed, the TRR contains details of the impact to all Service Operations teams. Details include identification of the following items.  new operational procedures  schedule maintenance plan  backup maintenance plans  routine server administration  Service Operations “out of scope” changes to the solution especially identification of both one off and ongoing manual tasks including the requirement for onsite visits  weaknesses within the solution and feed back to ATLAS technical authorities  training requirements for Service Operations  monitoring requirement  reporting requirements for Service Operations and the customer  identify knowledgebase articles  crib sheets for other EIS teams  processes that span areas of EIS  SO derived requirements  scripts and batch routines that are introduced to resolve an outstanding issue or simplify the solution PI’s involvement ceases once LRR has been approved by all Service Operations Resolver Groups April 2005 – June 2007 (Software build/Test (FUJITSU) DII/F) I worked for 27 months at Atlas House HQ’s in Reading, building and testing Test and Pre Production environments for the Engineering dept. These environments included extensive use of Windows 2003, AD, Veritas Clustering including SQL, Exchange, Print, DFS, File, DHCP and Veritas Volume Replicator cluster services. I spent 4 months building and integrating a deployed environment as part of the MOD’s Coalition War Interoperability Demonstrations. I worked with the Design/Integration/Test team for 12 months proving software and documentation, primarily on the above products, creating test scripts, raising defects and producing test reports using Test Director. I implemented a PKI environment using Entrust and HSM in System Test and Pre Production. Hands on Upgrading/migrating of W2K to W2003 (Domain Controllers W2K to W2003 and Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003). October 1997 – April 2005 Principle DII/C Implementation Consultant I was Fujitsu Service’s Principle Implementation Consultant/Team Leader on the MOD’s DII/C project, this role allowed me to keep very much hands on with the MOD’s IT strategy Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory, where I was responsible for all technical issues regarding the onsite manual rollout of DII/C Core Nodes. DII/C Core Nodes are an EMC SAN based N+1 resilient network based on Windows 2000/2003 with the following applications/technologies :- Exchange, SQL, MOM, IDS, SMS, DFS, STS, SPS, EDRM/Meridio/K2, Storage Tech robot and Veritas backup. My work included time spent in the Test and Release group and liaising with IntegrationDevelopment and the Network team. I ensured all onsite technical issues regarding software builds were promptly and efficiently rectified and I coordinated between various Fujitsu and 3rd party teams. I worked extremely closely with PM’s to ensure rollout met strict timescales. I am used to working in a team as well as on my own both at home and abroad. Page 3 of 5
