Oversaw and participated in the operations and maintenance of the network, server,storage and application
environments for the National Children’s Study; areas of responsibility include: operations and maintenance of the
physical servers,network, VPN,firewall, network, VMware virtual server environment, Active Directory,
application of NIST, NIH,and project specific group policies, Active Directory Federated Services.
Major projects included: Creation of a new Active Directory domain, specifically for development servers,to
segregate developers from production data; consolidated over 2 dozen SQL servers to 6 in order to fit within the
purchased licensing and later to enable the client to reduce licensing costs; oversaw the stand-up of the enterprise
monitoring and network intrusion detection system; created the gold-image for NCS field equipment laptops as well
as the imaging and post-imaging processes to create a baseline, hardened image; developed processes to increase the
amount of automation in monthly security patching using AD group policy and PowerShell scripts, reducing the
number of man-hours from 20 per month down to 2 hours per month.
