17. FIGURES OF SPEECH
A figure of speech can be generally
defined as a deviation from the
normal use of words in grammar.
It is basically a figurative language
containing words that are expressed
in a non-literal sense.

It is an expression comparing
one thing to another using the
words “like” or “as”.

Life is like a rollercoaster.
The dancers roared like a lion.
She runs like lightning.
You are as cold as ice.

It is a direct comparison of two unlike
things without using the words “like”
or “as”.
