2. ENZYME
-is a chemical substance in animals
and plants that helps to cause natural
processes(such as digestion)
-are biological catalyst that made up of
large protein molecules. They speed up the
chemical reactions inside the cell. The
enzyme is made up of a combination of
amino acids which for a chain of
polypeptides between each other.

3. POLYPEPTIDES
-is a molecular chain of
amino acids.

5. PH (POTENTIAL OF HYDROGEN)
-it is a measure of acidity or
alkalinity of water soluble substances.
A ph is a number from 1 to 14 with 7 as
the middle (neutral) point. Values
below 7 indicates the acidity which
increases as the number decreases,
and 1 being the most acidic.

6. TEMPERATURE
-is a physical quantity expressing hot
and cold.
-it is measured with a thermometer
calibrated in one or more scales.
The most commonly used scales are
Celsius scale, Fahrenheit scale
and Kelvin scale.

7. THE NORMAL TEMPER
Celsius Scale
37.5 degree C
Fahrenheit Scale
312 degree F
Kelvin Scale
273 degree K

8. SUBSTRATE
-is an underlying substance or
1 layer.
-is the substance on which an
enzyme acts.

9. Enzymes are affected by the Hydrogen
ion concentration (Ph) and temperature.
There are several factors that affect the
speed of an enzyme action. And these
are:
 Concentration of the enzyme
 The concentration of substrate
 The concentration of temperature
 Hydrogen ion concentration (ph)
 The presence of inhibitors
