3. The father of scientific management is Fredrick
Winslow Taylor. He was a American Mechanical
engineer. He gave five principles of scientific
management.
4. Scientific Management means managing things on the
basis of scientific investigations, innovations and
analysis instead of traditional methods.
Definition :-
According to F.W. Taylor” Scientific management is
the art of knowing exactly what you want men to do
and then seeing that they do it in the best and
cheapest way”.
6. It is a work measurement technique which is
designed to establish the time for a qualified
worker to carry out a specified conditions, at a
defined rate of working. It includes:-
1. Sub-dividing the work
2. Selection of the average worker.
This is a technique which involve close observations
of the movements of the body and limbs required to
perform job. It aims to study the operators(workers)
and machines so as to identify and eliminate
unnecessary and wasteful motions. It includes:-
1.Selection of efficient workers.
2.Analysis of the motions involved in every job.
7. Example
The main aim of the method study is to keep the
production cost to the minimum by a proper mixture of
organizational resources such as land, labour, capital
etc. It includes :-
1. Simplifying the use of tools and equipments.
2. Integration of identical activities.
8. It is taken to determine the amount and frequency of rest
required in completing a task. Fatigue in the work is
natural.
Standardisation refers to the process of setting standards for every
business activity; it can be standardisation of process, raw,
materials, time, product or working conditions.
9. Simplification aims at eliminating superfluous varieties, sizes and
dimensions while standardisation implies devising new varieties
instead of the existing ones.
