What is pronoun?
Definition:
A pronoun is a word used in place of a noun.
Example:
Anushka bought me a beautiful purse, but she
lost it in the train.
She-Anushka It- Purse

Types of Pronoun
+
1. Subject Pronoun
Pronoun include
I, me, we, us,
you, he, him, she,
her, it, they, them,
mine, ours, yours, his,
hers, and theirs.

Examples
n Don’t touch the iron. It is hot.
n Ranjini is sleeping. She is wearing a night suit. It is
pink in colour.
n Rohit has not arrived yet. He is always late. I must
talk to him today.
n Shalini went to a garden.There she met her friend.
They had a great time in the garden.

2. Personal Pronoun
Definition:
Personal pronouns are used in place of the names of
persons, animals and things.
n Pronouns of the first person refer to the speaker (I, me,
we, us).
n Pronouns of the second person refer to the listener or
the person or persons being spoken to (you).
n Pronouns of the third person refer to the persons,
animals or things being spoken of (he, him, she, her, it,
they, them).

I or Me
I and me are personal pronouns of the first person.They
refer to the speaker.
They are placed later in the sentence if we are talking
about another person and ourselves.
n Ronit and I play tennis.
Do you want to play with Ronit and me?
n Ronit and I play tennis. I play tennis. ✓
n Ronit and me play tennis. Me play tennis. ×

Definition:
It show possession, belonging or ownership.

in the sentences belong.They are possessive
pronouns.

4. Demonstrati︎ve Pronounsve Pronouns
Definition:
The pronoun which ‘point at’ or ‘demonstrate’ the items to
which they refer, are called demonstrative pronouns.The
words this, these, that and those are used here to point out
one or more things.

n That is a toy.
n Those are toys.

5. Reflexive Pronoun
Definition:
Reflexive pronouns are words ending in -self or -selves
that are used when the subject and the object of a
sentence are the same.
Examples:
1. Did you hurt yourself when you fell?
2. He burnt himself when he was cooking.
3. Her real name is Mariella, but she calls herself Mary.
