Brendan can be replaced by the pronoun he.

Examples:

Sara gave Sheila it. (in place of the DO “a
present”)
7. Take the place of possessives in sentences
They are my, mine, your, yours, his, her,
hers, its, our, ours, your, yours and their,
theirs.
Example:
That is Bill’s dog.
