A pronoun is a word used to take the place of
 a noun or another pronoun in a sentence.

    For example:
        Brendan plays soccer well.

       Can be changed to---
       He plays soccer well.

       Brendan can be replaced by the pronoun he.
Pronouns can be placed in to several
categories:
 Personal
     Subject
     Object
     Possessive
 Reflexive    and Intensive
 Indefinite
 Interrogative
 Demonstrative
 Are used to replace the subject of a sentence
  only.
 Subject Pronouns are I, you, he, she, it, we,
  you and they.
Examples:
1. He is taking the SAT today. (in place of
   name)
2. It is on the shelf.(taking place of the words
   The book)
 Take the place of Direct Objects, Indirect
  Objects and Objects of the Preposition in a
  sentence.
 They are me, you, him, her, it, us, you and
  them.
 Examples:
    Bill placed the book on it. (in place of the OP
     “the desk”)
    Sara gave me a present. (in place of the IO
     “Sheila”)
    Sara gave Sheila it. (in place of the DO “a
     present”)
 Take the place of possessives in sentences
 They are my, mine, your, yours, his, her,
  hers, its, our, ours, your, yours and their,
  theirs.
 Example:
 That is Bill’s dog.
     It can become…
     That is his dog.
     That is his.
Case:       Subject        Object         Possessive

1st Person

2nd Person      You           You            Your, yours


3rd Person   He, she, it   Him, her, it   His, her, hers, its




   Plural       We             Us             Our, ours

 Their----shows  ownership
 There----shows location, here and there
 They’re----is the contraction of they+are


 Its----shows     ownership
 It’s----it is the contraction of it+is
 Usually   occur in compound subjects and
  objects:
 Which of these two is correct?
    John and I went to the movies.
    John and me went to the movies.

    Sara went with John and I.
    Sara went with John and me.
 John   and I went to the movies.
    John went to the movies. I went to the movies.
 John   and me went to the movies.
    John went to the movies. Me went to the
     movies.
 Sara   went with John and I.
    Sara went with John. Sara went with I.
 Sara   went with John and me.
    Sara went with John. Sara went with me.
