4. AIR QUALITY INDEX
The Air Quality Index (AQI) is an index
for reporting daily air quality
In India, the National Air Quality Index considers the pollutants viz. PM2.5, PM10, Nitrogen Dioxide,
Ammonia, Sulphur Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide and Ozone.
A sub-index is calculated for each of these pollutants based on the measured ambient concentrations,
corresponding standards and likely health impact. The worst sub-index reflects overall AQI

5. Good |Minimal Impact
Satisfactory | Minor breathing discomfort to sensitive
people
Moderate | Breathing discomfort to the people with
lungs, asthma and heart diseases
Poor | Breathing discomfort to most people on
prolonged exposure
Very Poor | Respiratory illness on prolonged exposure
Severe | Affects healthy people and seriously impacts
those with existing diseases
