2. As in English, Spanish nouns can either be singular
(one) or plural (more than one).
Nouns ending in a vowel (-a,-e,-i,-o,-u) add –s for the
plural.
Singular Plural
Un perro (One dog) Dos perros (Two dogs)
Un museo ( One museum) Dos museos (Two museums)
Una casa (One house) Dos casas (Two houses)

Nouns ending in a consonant add –es for the plural.
Singular Plural
Un ordenador
(one computer)
Dos ordenadores
(two computers)
Un actor
(one actor)
Dos actores
(two actors)

If a noun ends in –z the ending changes to –ces.
Singular Plural
Pez Peces
Un lapiz (one pencil) Dos lapices (two pencils)

Words borrowed from English may end in –es , but
more usually end in –s.
Singular Plural
Un club Dos clubes
El pub Los pubs

6. Singular and Plural Nouns
An accent before a final consonant, drop the accent
and add –es.
Singular Plural
Una invitación
(one invitation)
Dos invitaciones
(two invitations)
Un jardín Unos jardines
