Hello,
my self - Yogesh Kumar Patel
currently pursuing M.Sc. Entomology in RPCAU, Pusa, Bihar.
this is my one of the best PPT that i shared with you.
i hope you learned something from this.
thank you so much :)
4. Every living organism has required food for their living and
we all know our population is increasing day by day so quickly.
In future there are so many difficulties for farmers to full fill
all requirements of food for human being.
In world >60% living organisms are insects and they are one
of the sources that can full fill food requirements.
In the world more than 2 billion people consume insects as
part of their traditional diets.
If we compare insects with other animals insects are very less
spacious, less food and water consuming and they are full of
proteins, carbohydrate and vitamins.
We can prepare very delicious dishes by processing them.
5. In the next 30 years the world’s population is projected to
reach 9 billion people.
As much the population increases the demand of food supply
also increases.
So there will be scarcity of every source like food, land and
water, which make a farmer difficult to answer the question
how exactly we will feed 9 billion mouths.
More importantly how can we grow on such a sustainable
food that supports healthy and productive life with far little
resources?
9. On the earth there are almost 1.8M total organisms described,
among that more than 1M are insects, more than 60% of known sp.
1. insect
61%
2. non insect
arthopods
8%
3. other animals
7%
4. fungi
4%
5. protista
2%
6. chordats
3%
7.algae
0% 8. vascular
plants

10. Continue –
Insects are more abundant and nutritious arthropod on the
earth. Insects can be grown at a large-scale like Grasshoppers,
crickets, mealworms and even cockroaches.
It might be answer to feeding 9 billion people.

16. -There are few points for comparison between insects with other
animals.
INSECT ANIMALS
17. Chicken and fishes are the most efficient protein source, which
requires 8-10kg of feed to produce 1kg of meat.
On the other hand insects like crickets require 1kg of feed to
produce 1kg of protein powder
18. In case of water consumption cereals require 1000-1200
liters of water to produce 1kg of grain.
Chicken requires 4000-5000 liters of water to produce 1
kg of meat. but in case of insects like Crickets require only
3-4 liter of water to produce 1kg of insect meat.
19.
20. Insects are a remarkable source of nutrition.
Crickets have more Protein then Beef Jerky, chicken, fishes and
eggs. They have more iron then Spinach and more calcium then Milk.
Mealworms are another popular type of edible insect; they have
more protein then beef and omega3 then salmon fish.
21.
22. One more fact to support eating insects is that they require a
very little in term of physical space, You can’t stalk a cow on top
of each other, but you can grow insects enclose spacious place
like wear house.
26. Insects become ready to eat in a very short time as compared
to other meat products like fish, chicken or beef.
Chicken takes 3-4 months, fish takes 10-12 months, Goat
takes 2-3 years to become ready to eat, but insect grows within
1-2 months only.
27. The Insects are first beneficial for far greenhouse gas emission
as compare to other animals.
Industrial meat production is currently accounts 37% methane
in atmosphere.
Methane is a huge contributor for the climate change and to
rising global warming.
Cows are one of the biggest methane producing animals that
are emitting 2 billion tons of methane in entire atmosphere.
Insects production releases <1% of methane.
31. S.N. ZONE CONSUMPTION OF INSECT
1.
North East zone
(Assam, Manipur,
Tripura, Nagaland)
Ant, Termite, Grasshopper, Cricket, Silkworm pupa
and larvae, Bees, Dragonfly, mole cricket, giant
water bug, Diving beetles.
2.
South zone
(Tamil Nadu, Kerala,
Karnataka,
Andhra Pradesh)
Grasshopper, Palm weevil, rhinoceros beetle,
Beetles, Dragonfly, Termite, Butterfly.
3.
Central India
(Chhattisgarh, MP.
UP. Maharashtra)
Red ant, caterpillars, termites, grasshoppers,
crickets, Beetles and Grubs.
