1. Question 5 : How did you attract/address your audience
?
Attracting the Audience (Company Logo &Film Title)
To attract the audience we first made a company logo, we
decided on the name by combining the name of an iconic
horror film villain 'Pennywise' the clown and added the word
productions, when we made the logo we thought about horror
conventions of dark colours, shadows and blood. We thought
that this is the first thing that would attract the horror film
lovers. Secondly we thought of a name for out film, because our
film is about a unknown mysterious villain we simply though of
calling it unknown, After a little discussion we decided to see
what the word unknown was in latin, it was Inscium and we
thought this sounded more sinister so we made this the title for
our film.
Attracting the Audience (Setting and Theme)
From our audience research we gathered information about
what setting and themes people like to see in conventional
horror film then from this we chose a place and an overall
theme of our film. When deciding where to film we had to
consider area it was in and how far it was away because two
members of the group live out of town. We decided to choose
a woods near the college because the two members of the
group who lived out of town could easily get the bus there and
the place was scary/creepy and it could be made look creepier
with effect. At first we where going to go for the supernatural
2. theme because we only had one person willing to act and in a
supernatural you don't need someone to play the 'villain'. A
supernatural themed film deemed difficult to make so i decided
to step in and be the villain but we kept the mystery by not
giving too much away. The woods where a good choice for this
because they have a single path that we used to an advantage
by having the villain follow the victim down there which adds to
the tension because it makes the victim unable to turn back.
Attracting the Audience (Props and Costumes)
In out film we did not use many props so it is hard to comment
on this. Out costumes however we did think about, for instance
in our research the audience said that they like the victim to be
a cocky person, maybe due to them being less liked, so we
dressed out victim in a typical working class slightly 'chavy'
outfit to show that they do not care as much about their looks
because they think they look good, in turn making them seem
cocky. The villain on the other hand we dressed in a long dark
coat to keep the mystery, he also had a scarf/balaclava which
hid the secret of him having no mouth (which is revealed later
on)
