2. Shot 1
In the first shot, there is text showing who wrote the story for the movie. This is
a medium shot of the main character. His facial expressions suggest that the
movie is based around anger and also his attire suggests that the movie is
about boxing. The lighting is darker and more blacked out as this symbolises
the importance of the character in the frame.
3. Shot 2
In this shot, the producers are displayed onscreen through text in uppercase. It
is a two shot which shows the main character on the right along with another
man. The fact that the other man is stood in one shot with the main character
shows his significance within the film. They are looking at each other and it
seems as though there is a kind of tension within the room. There is also a
black and white picture in the background showing two men who look very
similar to the men in the shot, perhaps contrasting them then and now.
4. Shot 3
This shot includes another producer’s name. However, this time the producer’s
name is by itself, suggesting the significance of this person. This is a two
shot and it seems as though the two men are training side by side. Two
posters can be seen in the background, one of which says “FIGHT NIGHT”.
This implies that the film is based on a big fight. The second poster is slightly
less visible but says “AMATEUR BOXING” which connotes that the big fight is
to do with boxing. The lighting is significantly bright showing the sweat on the
main character’s body, suggesting his hard work and efforts.
5. Shot 4
This text in this shot has the director of photography. This person must also be
significantly important in the promotion of the film itself, since her name is
shown alone. The shot is a medium shot. It consists of the main character
staring down another man, perhaps his opponent in a boxing match. There is
also a referee in between the two, which connotes that although there is
aggression in the film, there is some sort of control there. There is also two
other men, each by the fighters’ side, most likely to be their trainers.
6. Shot 5
The text in this shot is the music supervisor. Considering this person gets their
name in the shot alone, it shows how important the music is within the movie.
This is an extreme long shot which also shows the huge crowds that have
gathered wanting to watch this fight.
7. Shot 6
This is a two shot. The shot shows the love between these two characters. This
is represented by how close they are to each other. The low lighting also
shows the tone of the scene which may possibly be a calm and serene
situation. Since this shot was included, it may mean that this relationship is a
significant part of the story within the film.
8. Shot 7
This is an over the shoulder shot. It includes low lighting within the background
of the shot, but bright lighting within the centre. The facial expression of the
man punching is quite aggressive which seems to be a key theme within this
movie. The fact that the man getting punched seems knocked out, it implies
the level of violence within the film.
9. Shot 8
This is a close up shot. Low lighting is used within the background of the shot to
draw more attention to the centre. The fire stands out which may be another
theme within the movie. The main character is a boxer/fighter who stands out
more than the rest. The fire could also be a metaphor for the main character’s
drive and motivation for boxing.
10. Shot 9
In the final shot, it includes the movie title. This is bold and uppercase. The use
of the colour black contrasts with the white. The fact that it is bold and
uppercase, has a sort of authoritative look.
