Pengwin, an indie band, is performing at this year's Reading Festival after being given a time slot. The band members have different approaches - the Jamie guitarists spend most of their time together having fun, while Grace the trumpeter practices music in her hotel room. In an interview, the Jamie's reveal the band's new album "Above to Below" will be released on July 7th, and that while they admire certain bands, they want to forge their own unique path. They believe their relationship as a band will stay the same at Reading, but Jamie Wells misses camping with fans as last year.
PengWin Given a Chance to Shine at This Year's Reading Festival
1. E AT THIS YEARS READING FESTIVAL!
PengWin have been c

It looks like the one for them
about being given time on t

Unfortunately for all of us P

The attitude the band seems to take is something I could see as a little bit strange. You would think they
all hang around in a group all the time, but we couldn’t be more wrong! – Both of the Jamie’s
(guitarist and ukulele expert)
choose to chill and spend most
of their days together while
grace (trumpeter / vocalist)
chooses to spend her time in
the hotel rooms practicing her
musical talents and reading.
I’m not saying the band is never
together, but it’s clear that the
Jamie’s are out for the fun
whilst Grace is in it for the
music. But why should this
affect their ability to produce
original and dazzling melodies?
It shouldn’t and doesn’t!
We were able to take a few Q&A’s from two of these rising stars Jamie Toms and Jamie
Wells to see what they had to say to some of the questions the fan base were just
desperate to know!
Can you give us the release date of your new album ‘Above to Below’?
Jamie Toms: Of course man! We were hoping somebody would ask and we’re pleased to say that on the 7th
of July
is when it’s coming out!
Fantastic! And the readers would like to know if there are any bands that you aspire to follow in the footsteps
of? Or even idolize?
Jamie Wells: Well, as much as there are bands and artists like Kings Of Convenience and Train that we can relate to
hugely, we do want to be our own band with unique properties and a unique fan-base.
Jamie Toms: Yeah, as long as Grace doesn’t end up like Madonna *laughs*
*shared laughter*
And one more question, How do you feel
the relationship of your band is going to
be like when you hit Reading this year?
Jamie Toms: Well... our relationship is not
going to change much; we have stayed
the same since the start of our careers.
I do think that this year’s reading is going
to be way way more jammin’ than last
year…
Jamie Wells:… I do miss the idea of actually
staying in a tent with all of our fans around
us though, that was something special.
