Senior Engineer at a Royal Air Defence Radar Site Aug 2014 to Present
The senior Engineer at a busy Air Defence Radar and Communications Site. Responsible for
the management of 30 personnel and the maintenance of a wide range of complex Radar
Radio and data systems. Accountable for the availability of equipment which was both
Essential to National Defence and Flight Safety critical. Other responsibilities include: Health

2. and Advisor for the site, a duty covering RF Safety, production and management of COSHH
and Risk Assessments; Unit Quality Manager responsible for Auditing and Continual
Improvement; Line manager for 30 personnel with responsibility for planning manpower,
writing annual appraisals, discipline motivation and welfare; Alt Crypto Custodian responsible
for management and safe custody of equipment and codes up to NATO Secret; Liasion and
coordination with Higher RAF Authorities, all contractors, SCIDA, Defence Estates and
Personnel Welfare Agencies.
Flight Trials Manager– Air Defence Delivery Team - MOD AUG 2008 to AUG 2014
The only Military Member of a three man team responsible for planning, executing and
interpreting the results of flight trials on the RAFs Air Defence Radar Network. Instrumental in
the acquisitions process of new Radars, compliance and performance testing of existing
systems and bespoke trials to investigate faults or assess vulnerabilities. Notable
achievements include: Attending the first production meeting with Lockheed Martin in New
York for the TPS77 Radar System; Planning and executing and writing reports on
Commissioning Flight Trials for the new TPS77 fleet and the T102 Radar Fleet; Wind Farm
Compliance Trials on the first in Fleet TPS77 with International Implications; Vulnerability
assessment of all radars against the emerging 4G technologies working with OFCOM and
carrying out flight Trials in Operational Theatres with deployable Radar Assets.
Radar Manager – RAF Trimingham FEB 2002 to AUG 2008
Senior Technician at a heavy radar site, responsible for all aspects of maintenance of a T93
radar to component level and a team of 18 technicians.

Safety Critical Radar, Navigation Aids and Communications at a busy fast jet fighter base.

communications at an Air defence Radar Site in the Outer Hebrides.
