Narrative Essay About My Mom
Something about my mom just helps me always stay positive. Whether it's the way she lives life to the fullest, the troubles that she has gone
through, or the way she bounces back from those troubles. My mom has always kept her positive act on, and I don't know how she does it. She
will always be the person in the room that is the most bubbly and excited about life. She has gone through hard times but though hope has guided
her through hard experiences with life. My mom lost her dad when she was older but it still had a big impact on her. I think that my grandpas death
was one of the most difficult things my mom has gone through. My grandpa or my moms dad passed away February 6th 2004. My moms dad had a
heart attack when he was in the car. My mom has always said that she thinks he was driving to the hospital. I have always thought that my...show more

My mom think about her dad everyday and think about the positive impact he had on her. My mom tells us stories about what he dad would do if
he was still with us now. Throughout the stories my mom has told us I know many characteristics of my grandpa. My favorite stories are the ones
that my mom likes the best, which are all of them. My mom has always told my sister and I if we ever want to talk to our grandpa or be with him
he is always there for us and here with us even though he isn't here. She also had bears made for us so we could be with our grandpa and act as
though the bear is him. My sister and I sleep with our bears on our bed every night, this helps us sleep and get a better night's rest. The reason the
bears are so special to us is because they are made from my grandpas robe. This is important to me, because even though my has a hard time with the
situation she still helps other people with the situation. As you can tell my mom can act as though nothing is wrong and help other people. That's why

Descriptive Essay About My Mother
No matter how hard life gets for me and how chaotic things can become there has always been one person that I can turn to, my mom. She's been a
wealth of advice to call on when I'm clueless and a shoulder to cry on when I'm down. Her compassion for others inspires me to be a better person as
does the guidance she has given me over the years. She's not afraid to give me a reality check and to tell me the things I don't want to hear even though I
need to. She keeps me grounded and teaches me to appreciate the smaller things in life. Even though my dad was still involved in my life after my
parents split up it was my mother who I primarily lived with and it was her who had the greatest influence on my life growing up. Anyone who has

Heaven help you if you do anything to endanger her family. My mom also does not go soft on her kids; she can be a formidable disciplinarian when
she wants to and will not hesitate to set us straight when we broke the rules. She won't let anybody walk over her and is really quick to anger if you
try. My mother is strong–willed and stubborn; when she sets her mind to something almost nothing will stop her and what an impossible feat it is to
change her mind on something. She is very impatient; when she wants something done she wants it done at this very moment, no later. She is
idealistic and she enjoys the simpler things that life has to offer. She loves nature and would love nothing more than to be living in a cabin in the
mountains while listening to country music. She does not pay much attention to news happening outside her local area and prefers to focus on what's
happening in her immediate area. From my mother I have learned how to be the person that I am today. Through her I have learned the importance of
family and that it is paramount to spend time with them while I still have it. Even now I try to spend time with my family when I have the opportunity
to. Form her I have learned compassion for those around me and for animals. Even

Becoming A Mom Changed My Life
At seventeen years old, my life had completely changed. I became a mother all while losing my own mom. My youth had vanished in what seemed
like the snap of two fingers. How in the world could I be a mother when I am just a child myself? While learning how to shuffle being a mom and a
student at such a young age, I had to learn to embrace the grief of losing my mother. I began to wonder how I could ever relate to others my age, when
it seemed I had so much more responsibility placed upon me. When going to school I had a lot of people question or make fun of me because I was
a teen mom making it even harder for me. I lost all of my friends and felt alone. I felt as if the weight of the world were upon my shoulders. Then life
threw yet another curve ball at me and I lost my grandmother...show more content...

started to realize something was missing. I felt down on myself, thinking how in the world can I support my family with no education let alone an idea
of what I wanted to do with my life. I was letting that define the person I am. I made a promise to not only myself but to my children and husband
that I would complete my education and get my diploma. I wanted to be a good example to my children and show them that I can do it! Since then
I have found lots of support and hope that I had lost over several years. I did a lot of soul searching by digging down deep and finding myself. I started
to think a lot of my future and how I could help support my family. In retrospect, it's funny how one day can have such an effect on your life. I choose

My Mother And My Childhood
To this day, I can still remember standing at the end of my driveway watching my mother arrive home from the bus stop. This day was different;
she was not coming home empty handed. In fact, she had stopped at a yard sale on the way home and bought a prize for me, a doll named Suzy.
This memory, from the age of two, embraces the story of my mother and my entire childhood. In Indianapolis, Indiana in September 1980, I was
born to a single mother. Throughout her life, she worked for the phone company in downtown Indianapolis. Even though she raised us through
hardships and despair, she always took the time to love my brother and me outwardly. Until second grade, I have no recollection of my father
visiting more than three occasions. At last, in fourth grade we began to spend weekends at his house and with his family. Sadly, when I was eleven
we learned that my father had cancer. One week before Christmas, after a school music program, I read his obituary in the paper and told my mother
he had passed away. From that moment, our family forever changed, specifically my relationship with my mother. During childhood, I took enjoyment
in reading, school, and the arts. Escaping into books and my schoolwork would be my escape from real life. Since school was the priority in our
household, there was little time for extracurricular activities. Similarly, through my high school years, determined to make my mother proud, I pushed
myself to succeed. Above all else, college was the goal

Personal Essay : Losing My Mother
Losing My Mother I can still remember vividly the day my mother passed away. My mother passed away at a critical point in my life when I was
seventeen years old from a short term illness. She was sick for a week and I remember thinking this could be serious, however, my mother
declined to go to the hospital because of the distance and financial hardship. I had loss my father when I was three years old, so my mother was a
single mother. I have step sisters and brother, but I was not particularly close to them. Losing my mother was a defining moment in my life for it
changed my life irrevocably. I was devastated, but I had to become strong, proactive and it spurred me to choose a new career path. Losing my
mother was very traumatising. She was the only parent I knew since the age of three and the one person I knew I could depend on one hundred
percent. I was in school when one of my cousin came to inform me that I was to return home immediately. In my gut I knew something serious
must have happened to my mother. I do not remember how I got home. When I saw several people crying at my home and nobody was really
make eye contact with me, I just started to cry too and that is when someone told me how sorry they were for my loss. I was in shock for more than
three days. I did not sleep nor eat and I did not shade single tears after the initial outburst. Basically I just wanted to crawl in a corner and never wake

Becoming a Teenage Mother Essay
Shyla Henry September 11, 2012 Becoming a Teenage Mother I never thought having unprotected sex would lead to a teen pregnancy. However, I
was wrong. Being young, immature, and thinking I was invincible led me to becoming a teenage mother. The disbelief came first, followed quickly
by panic, before the realization and acceptance arrived. I had sex and I had to be mature and deal with the consequences and grow up faster than
most teenagers. The days of my carefree teen life are now behind me as I tend to my eight month old son's every need. At first, finding out I was

twenty three hours, the doctors said it was time for a cesarean. I was so scared. All of a sudden, I heard my son screaming. My heart melted and I
couldn't keep the tears from coming. That was the best moment of my life. Justin and I named our son, Bentley Michael McCartney. He weighed
eight pounds and thirteen ounces and he was twenty one inches tall. He was beautiful and healthy. Seeing my son made me realize that I was now

Essay on A Caring Mother
[1] Tillie Olsen's "I stand Here Ironing" centers around two main characters: Emily and her mother. While Emily's mother appears to be neglectful and
at times selfish, upon further examination of her character, voice and appeal to the reader's pathos, the mother actually holds her daughter's well being
above her own. The pair endure hardship throughout the text, but the mother always does the very best she can to raise her daughter, making every
decision with Emily's best interest as the central factor. [2] As Olsen weaves her narrative, she hints and suggests details about the mother. Usually
mother makes an off–hand comment about something other than herself but the particular way the thought is phrased and her choice of words says

[4] A few paragraphs later, the mother reflects on Emily as a small infant and with a sorrowful tone she recollects that "[Emily] was a miracle to
me, but when she was eight months old, I had to leave her daytimes [to work]" (671). Some may see this as neglect but it's clear that Emily's
mother had no choice. She doesn't stipulate that she wanted to leave her daytimes but that she "had to". At this point in the story, Emily's father
walks out and is no longer part of her life, leaving the sole responsibility on Emily's mother. This story is set in the 1930's and 1940's which were a
difficult set of years by any account, harder still for a single mother, but the narrator perseveres. Eager to spend as much time with Emily as possible,
the mother re–arranged her work schedule to be with Emily during the day, and when she came home, she'd run from the street car and up the stairs
so that she might hold Emily that much sooner. She clearly loved Emily deeply and didn't want to be away from her as she went to sizeable lengths
to spend as much time with Emily as she could. [5] Later, Emily has to be sent to live with her father's family but certainly not because the mother
didn't want Emily around; she simply couldn't afford be a single mother during the great depression. We know the money is

A Mother's Love and a Daughter's Growth Essay
A Mother's Love and a Daughter's Growth
Many times love is thought of in terms of relationships with someone of the opposite sex. It often times includes emotional as well as physical
attraction. Amy Tan's novel, The Bonesetter's Daughter, examines the love that takes another form: the love between a parent and child. In a heartfelt
examination of the relationship between mother and daughter, Amy Tan brings to life the feeling of love a daughter often takes for granted in the
relationship with her mother.
In order to express the development of the characters in her novel, Tan uses time in a most useful manner. She draws upon the present in her portrayal of
Ruth Young, daughter of LuLing Young. She uses the past to create a

Misunderstandings begin to surface between the daughter born in America and the mother raised in a very different culture. At a young age, Ruth sees
her mother's ideas, practices, and motivations, as ancient in nature and resistant to modern times. LuLing struggles with her daughter's independent
qualities and stubbornness. The miscommunication between young daughter and mother are ever clear in the brief exchange of these words: "'Why I
have daughter like you? Why I live? Why I don't die long time 'go? You want I die?' Ruth was shaking but shrugged as nonchalantly as she could. 'I
really don't care'" (Tan 146).
In adulthood, Ruth understands her frustrations as a child were just that, childish. Her mother's Alzheimer's diagnosis has shown Ruth how precious
and important the family connection is:
"As the years go on, I see how much family means. It reminds us of what's important. That connection to the past. The same jokes about being Young
yet getting old. The traditions. The fact that we can't get rid of each other no matter how much we try. We're stuck through the ages, with the bonds
cemented by sticky rice and tapioca pudding. Thank you all for being who you are." (Tan 93)
As Ruth is faced with the uncertainty of her mother's future, she dives wholeheartedly into her mother's past. The pages her mother gave her so

Mother Definition Essay
Growing up, I was used to being bombarded by stories from both my mother and father. My mother with her religious stories, and my father with
his experiences from when he was a little boy living in Vietnam. What I noticed in all of my mother's stories, was that she was trying to get a
certain message across. Be good. If there is anything that my mother is more stern on then studies, it would be on being a "good" person that
knows their morals and can perfectly execute and stand by it. My mother's definition of "good", is being selfless, caring, and honest, by being so

He does not know whether or not God or exists, or if there is a higher being, but what he does know is he saw a ghost, which lead him to believe in an

and then use reason afterwards to categorize the things we experience. My father used his senses, sight, to establish that there is an afterlife.
My mother is like my father, in the sense that they both believe in an afterlife. However, unlike my father, my mother is a very religious woman who

of whether they want to go to Heaven, or get reincarnated into a person with a higher social standing in

My Most Important Mentors In My Life : My Mother
I could say I have many mentors in my life, but my most important mentor is my mom. A mentor to me is someone who critically guides you
through your life decisions and provokes endless learning from their life experiences and wisdom. The only person who meets my idea of a
mentor is my mom. I have known her since birth and have always felt loved and cared by her. She gives me every tool I could possibly need to
succeed through primary school and onto postsecondary schooling. She has always given me words of encouragement, been honest when I am in
the wrong, and has always pushed me to reach my potential. I went to my mom on a Sunday, which is family day in our house. We went out to
lunch with my brother since he was visiting from college, and I got the opportunity to ask my mom about her views on Mitch's and my topics. In
my conversation with my mom we talked about three topics; A meaningful life, Family, and Education. Mitch's first topic was what it means to have
a meaningful life. My mom believes that what it means to have a meaningful life, is that it should not be defined by money or other people's
opinions. But rather it should be defined by your happiness and compassion for the things you do in your everyday life. When discussing Mitch's
second topic, family, my mom believes that the most important thing is that family is there for you to be honest, and to be critical of your decisions
in life. We both agreed they should be supportive of your passions and beliefs,

Essay on Working Mothers
It is often said that, "Man's work ends at sun set. Women's work is never done." With sixty–three million women working and 62% of those
women maintaining families, most women would this statement very true (AFL–CIO). While women are expanding their lives to include a career,
they must also maintain their traditional roles at home. This combination of housework and career–work is the reason why working mothers today
have more stress than working fathers.
Mothers may work in an office from nine to five, but their work does not end at the office. After working an eight–hour day, a mother will come home to
take care of her children, husband, and house. Women remain the primary caretaker and housekeeper...show more content...
Also, since husbands generally work eight more hours a week than their wives do, they tend to miss out on responsibilities, such as feeding their
children dinner and breakfast. "Men miss out on meal chores and those tend to be very stressful" says Dr. Barnett (Kelly). More often than
not, women's work interferes with family while for men family interferes with work (Bianchi 171). This is because women tend to put family first,
and therefore, they feel extra pressure to do well for their family when coming home from work. This feeling only adds to a working mother's stress.
Taking care of the elderly is very similar to the demand of taking care of one's children (Bianchi 180). With women now having children later in life,
they find themselves responsible for the care of their young children and elderly parents, if they require care, at the same time. One–half of elderly
peoples' caregivers work outside of the home and one quarter of them have children at home who require care (Garrett). Whether your parents are
living in a nursing facility or at home, it is undeniable the amount of work it takes to care for a loved one. Many elderly people require assistance
with medication, eating, and bathing as well as a long list of simple every day tasks. For anyone this is a pretty big responsibility, but imagine caring
for a person in such a manner along with caring for one's home and family.

Essay About My Mother 's Pregnancy
They talked just long enough for my father to get what we wanted out of the deal. Shortly after, she discovered that she was pregnant with me. I think
it 's so funny now because my father likes to say "I just blew on your mom, and she got pregnant. I don 't know how that happened." During my mother
's pregnancy, she discovered a lot of things about my father that would make the average woman infuriated. She found out that he already had a
daughter (my oldest sister, Tia) with another woman from his hometown, Detroit, Michigan. And while he was "seeing" her (for a better choice of
words) he was also "seeing" another woman who lived in the same area of the city that she lived. And if that wasn 't enough, she found out that
woman was also pregnant by my father with my oldest brother, Angel, who is only five months older than me. To make it even worse, she did not
obtain any of this information from my father. She learned this information on a trip to the mall, from a mutual friend that my mother and Angel 's
mother did not know they shared. My mother was extremely heartbroken and depressed after finding out all of this. She actually believed that her and
my father had a future together; which is a joke in itself knowing my father's past.
She was in a deep depression for a long period of time. But she knew that she would have to get over it because she was about to have a daughter. She
that she would have to raise me regardless if my father were going to be in the picture

My Reflection On My Mother Essay
A mother is someone who can take the place of all others but no one can take the place of her. There are many different definitions you could use to
describe your mother. My mother, Pam Krull, fits every one of those. Today I decided to pick the three that I thought was most important to me. I
admire and aspire to be like my mother because of how supportive, how selfless, and how loving she is. My mom has gone through a lot to get where
she is today. I will begin by telling you a little bit about my mom's background. My mom grew up outside of George with her parents, Harris and Bev
Kaster, and her three siblings, Erik, Brad, and Kristy. She attended George High School when they were still Blue Jays. My mom was involved in
a lot of different activities. She was in the play, large group and individual speech, a cheerleader, played the drums in band, was in student council,
secretary of her class, REC club, band, and jazz band. In her free time she hung out with friends and her sister. She had a few jobs growing up also.
She babysat a lot, worked at the library, and the dentist office. My mother also helped teach bible school, catechism, and attended youth group at Hope
Reformed Church. My mother met my dad, Doug Krull when she was a junior in high school. They dated for a while and ended getting married. They
then had three beautiful daughters, Allyssa, Megan, and Rebecca. My mom went to Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, to get her education

Mother to Mother The purpose of this paper is to introduce, discuss, and analyze the book "Mother to Mother" by Sindiwe Magona. Specifically, it
will critically analyze the book. The book "Mother to Mother" is a touching and elegant story of race relations and misunderstanding in South Africa.
The author bases her book on a true incident, but looks at it from the eyes of a mother who loves her son but recognizes his inadequacies. It is a
devastating look at apartheid, violence, and anger in a society long split between black and white. Well–written with emotion and pathos, it is a book

Clearly, she should have known the dangers of what she was doing, rather than looking at her situation only idealistically. Mandisa, the mother in
the story, does not make excuses for her son, she knows his act was reprehensible, but she does understand his young life has been filled with
despair, betrayal, and difficulty. She notes, "Understand the people among whom he has lived all his life. Nothing my son does surprises me any
more. Not after that first unbelievable shock, his implanting himself inside me; unreasonably and totally destroying the me I was. The me I would

of her children. Society will never benefit from the gifts they brought to the world. I firmly believe no child is born without potential. Thus, by

Becoming a Mom Changed My Life Essay
Two of the greatest days of my life were the days my daughters were born. The first time I held the both of them and gazed into their eyes I felt a
sense of relief and hope. The feeling is a warm tingling sensation that engulfed my entire body. The emotions that I felt are beyond what words can
explain. It's amazing to me that in the first few minutes of their lives they completely changed my perception of the world.
Motherhood has taught me many life lessons. Before becoming a mother, I was a self centered child. I had no motivation to succeed. All I was worried
about was where the next party was. At that time I had no want to try because I was so scared to fail. I was slowly progressing to go nowhere and do

They just want to learn about the world around them. They have inspired me to go out and try new things. Every day they grow a little bit more
independent. As they grow, I grow.
I have learned a lot about success from my daughters. For example, I watched them learn to walk. They weeble, they wobble and fall down. But no
matter how many times they fall, they get up and try again. It has taught me that no matter what obstacles occur, if I just continue to try I can and will
succeed.
My daughters are my motivation to succeed. Each day I work very hard to provide for them. Some days I really just want to give up. I don't want to
be a student, I don't want to work. I just want to quit. But when I think to myself how their faces light up at the sight of me, Mommy. I realize that if I
quit now I'm quitting on them. It is no longer about my wants and needs it is about their wants and needs first.
The greatest reward of being a mother is the love I share with my children. It is like no other. It is pure and unconditional. There is no greater
feeling than when my two year old say "Mommy I love you" or when my ten month old gives me kisses. The love we share is the greatest gift from
God that I have ever received.
In the short time that I have been a mother I have learned many things. I have realized that every day is a learning experience. I have taken the mistakes
that I have made and learned from them. My children have pushed me to strive for

spend time together or make us eat together at the dinner table. I was upset because I was comparing our family to my friends' families. I valued those
things and assumed my mom didn't, but I was wrong. My mom had so much on her mind everyday it was breaking her on the inside. Not only had I
wanted my mom to be like my friend's moms, now I had wanted my mom to be different because she was depressed. Bonhoeffer mentions that we
desire images of others that we want, but aren't the true image they bear as Christ's (pg37–38). At first I was puzzled. How is a good image of mine, not
Christ's image for her? I learned that His image is neither right nor wrong, but simply uniquely divine. My mom could have done those things, but her
whole life would have had to be different, and I would never want to change who my mom is.
The few times we did get to spend time together as a family, it wouldn't feel like it. I knew all the relationships between my family members. I was
the one who they told everything to but ask me not to tell anyone. This was a lot of weight on my shoulders because I began caring for everyone
else's relationships; especially my mom's because my brother and sister would argue

Narrative Essay About My Mom

  • 1. Narrative Essay About My Mom Something about my mom just helps me always stay positive. Whether it's the way she lives life to the fullest, the troubles that she has gone through, or the way she bounces back from those troubles. My mom has always kept her positive act on, and I don't know how she does it. She will always be the person in the room that is the most bubbly and excited about life. She has gone through hard times but though hope has guided her through hard experiences with life. My mom lost her dad when she was older but it still had a big impact on her. I think that my grandpas death was one of the most difficult things my mom has gone through. My grandpa or my moms dad passed away February 6th 2004. My moms dad had a heart attack when he was in the car. My mom has always said that she thinks he was driving to the hospital. I have always thought that my...show more content... My mom think about her dad everyday and think about the positive impact he had on her. My mom tells us stories about what he dad would do if he was still with us now. Throughout the stories my mom has told us I know many characteristics of my grandpa. My favorite stories are the ones that my mom likes the best, which are all of them. My mom has always told my sister and I if we ever want to talk to our grandpa or be with him he is always there for us and here with us even though he isn't here. She also had bears made for us so we could be with our grandpa and act as though the bear is him. My sister and I sleep with our bears on our bed every night, this helps us sleep and get a better night's rest. The reason the bears are so special to us is because they are made from my grandpas robe. This is important to me, because even though my has a hard time with the situation she still helps other people with the situation. As you can tell my mom can act as though nothing is wrong and help other people. That's why she represents Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Descriptive Essay About My Mother No matter how hard life gets for me and how chaotic things can become there has always been one person that I can turn to, my mom. She's been a wealth of advice to call on when I'm clueless and a shoulder to cry on when I'm down. Her compassion for others inspires me to be a better person as does the guidance she has given me over the years. She's not afraid to give me a reality check and to tell me the things I don't want to hear even though I need to. She keeps me grounded and teaches me to appreciate the smaller things in life. Even though my dad was still involved in my life after my parents split up it was my mother who I primarily lived with and it was her who had the greatest influence on my life growing up. Anyone who has known my...show more content... Heaven help you if you do anything to endanger her family. My mom also does not go soft on her kids; she can be a formidable disciplinarian when she wants to and will not hesitate to set us straight when we broke the rules. She won't let anybody walk over her and is really quick to anger if you try. My mother is strong–willed and stubborn; when she sets her mind to something almost nothing will stop her and what an impossible feat it is to change her mind on something. She is very impatient; when she wants something done she wants it done at this very moment, no later. She is idealistic and she enjoys the simpler things that life has to offer. She loves nature and would love nothing more than to be living in a cabin in the mountains while listening to country music. She does not pay much attention to news happening outside her local area and prefers to focus on what's happening in her immediate area. From my mother I have learned how to be the person that I am today. Through her I have learned the importance of family and that it is paramount to spend time with them while I still have it. Even now I try to spend time with my family when I have the opportunity to. Form her I have learned compassion for those around me and for animals. Even Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Becoming A Mom Changed My Life At seventeen years old, my life had completely changed. I became a mother all while losing my own mom. My youth had vanished in what seemed like the snap of two fingers. How in the world could I be a mother when I am just a child myself? While learning how to shuffle being a mom and a student at such a young age, I had to learn to embrace the grief of losing my mother. I began to wonder how I could ever relate to others my age, when it seemed I had so much more responsibility placed upon me. When going to school I had a lot of people question or make fun of me because I was a teen mom making it even harder for me. I lost all of my friends and felt alone. I felt as if the weight of the world were upon my shoulders. Then life threw yet another curve ball at me and I lost my grandmother...show more content... This was when I dropped out of High School and I lost hope and direction. Several years later, I met and married my husband Cody. I became a mother of three more beautiful children. My main focus at this point was being the best mother I could possibly be. In doing so, life become really busy and my education was put on hold yet again. As my children got older I started to realize something was missing. I felt down on myself, thinking how in the world can I support my family with no education let alone an idea of what I wanted to do with my life. I was letting that define the person I am. I made a promise to not only myself but to my children and husband that I would complete my education and get my diploma. I wanted to be a good example to my children and show them that I can do it! Since then I have found lots of support and hope that I had lost over several years. I did a lot of soul searching by digging down deep and finding myself. I started to think a lot of my future and how I could help support my family. In retrospect, it's funny how one day can have such an effect on your life. • 4. My Mother And My Childhood To this day, I can still remember standing at the end of my driveway watching my mother arrive home from the bus stop. This day was different; she was not coming home empty handed. In fact, she had stopped at a yard sale on the way home and bought a prize for me, a doll named Suzy. This memory, from the age of two, embraces the story of my mother and my entire childhood. In Indianapolis, Indiana in September 1980, I was born to a single mother. Throughout her life, she worked for the phone company in downtown Indianapolis. Even though she raised us through hardships and despair, she always took the time to love my brother and me outwardly. Until second grade, I have no recollection of my father visiting more than three occasions. At last, in fourth grade we began to spend weekends at his house and with his family. Sadly, when I was eleven we learned that my father had cancer. One week before Christmas, after a school music program, I read his obituary in the paper and told my mother he had passed away. From that moment, our family forever changed, specifically my relationship with my mother. During childhood, I took enjoyment in reading, school, and the arts. Escaping into books and my schoolwork would be my escape from real life. Since school was the priority in our household, there was little time for extracurricular activities. Similarly, through my high school years, determined to make my mother proud, I pushed myself to succeed. Above all else, college was the goal Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Personal Essay : Losing My Mother Losing My Mother I can still remember vividly the day my mother passed away. My mother passed away at a critical point in my life when I was seventeen years old from a short term illness. She was sick for a week and I remember thinking this could be serious, however, my mother declined to go to the hospital because of the distance and financial hardship. I had loss my father when I was three years old, so my mother was a single mother. I have step sisters and brother, but I was not particularly close to them. Losing my mother was a defining moment in my life for it changed my life irrevocably. I was devastated, but I had to become strong, proactive and it spurred me to choose a new career path. Losing my mother was very traumatising. She was the only parent I knew since the age of three and the one person I knew I could depend on one hundred percent. I was in school when one of my cousin came to inform me that I was to return home immediately. In my gut I knew something serious must have happened to my mother. I do not remember how I got home. When I saw several people crying at my home and nobody was really make eye contact with me, I just started to cry too and that is when someone told me how sorry they were for my loss. I was in shock for more than three days. I did not sleep nor eat and I did not shade single tears after the initial outburst. Basically I just wanted to crawl in a corner and never wake up from the nightmare. However, I had to become an adult and I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Becoming a Teenage Mother Essay Shyla Henry September 11, 2012 Becoming a Teenage Mother I never thought having unprotected sex would lead to a teen pregnancy. However, I was wrong. Being young, immature, and thinking I was invincible led me to becoming a teenage mother. The disbelief came first, followed quickly by panic, before the realization and acceptance arrived. I had sex and I had to be mature and deal with the consequences and grow up faster than most teenagers. The days of my carefree teen life are now behind me as I tend to my eight month old son's every need. At first, finding out I was pregnant was a devastating shock to not only myself but everyone around me. I was only eighteen and was a senior in high school. I had such high expectations for myself....show more content... I woke my boyfriend up and called my mother and we rushed to the hospital. I was nervous and excited at the same time. After eight hours of labor, the baby wasn't cooperating at all. I wouldn't dilate past eight and I already had three epidurals. I was in so much pain. After being in labor for twenty three hours, the doctors said it was time for a cesarean. I was so scared. All of a sudden, I heard my son screaming. My heart melted and I couldn't keep the tears from coming. That was the best moment of my life. Justin and I named our son, Bentley Michael McCartney. He weighed eight pounds and thirteen ounces and he was twenty one inches tall. He was beautiful and healthy. Seeing my son made me realize that I was now an adult and I would be the best mother I possibly could be. Becoming a teenage mother is more difficult then most teenagers realize. I go to college, work, clean and cook, and take care of my family. I love Bentley with all of my heart and wouldn't trade him for anything. However, if I waited to have Bentley, I would be done with college and not have to worry or struggle. I encourage young teenage girls to use protection and wait to have children. Life with a child is very hard. However, I wouldn't have my life any other Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Essay on A Caring Mother [1] Tillie Olsen's "I stand Here Ironing" centers around two main characters: Emily and her mother. While Emily's mother appears to be neglectful and at times selfish, upon further examination of her character, voice and appeal to the reader's pathos, the mother actually holds her daughter's well being above her own. The pair endure hardship throughout the text, but the mother always does the very best she can to raise her daughter, making every decision with Emily's best interest as the central factor. [2] As Olsen weaves her narrative, she hints and suggests details about the mother. Usually mother makes an off–hand comment about something other than herself but the particular way the thought is phrased and her choice of words says ...show more content... [4] A few paragraphs later, the mother reflects on Emily as a small infant and with a sorrowful tone she recollects that "[Emily] was a miracle to me, but when she was eight months old, I had to leave her daytimes [to work]" (671). Some may see this as neglect but it's clear that Emily's mother had no choice. She doesn't stipulate that she wanted to leave her daytimes but that she "had to". At this point in the story, Emily's father walks out and is no longer part of her life, leaving the sole responsibility on Emily's mother. This story is set in the 1930's and 1940's which were a difficult set of years by any account, harder still for a single mother, but the narrator perseveres. Eager to spend as much time with Emily as possible, the mother re–arranged her work schedule to be with Emily during the day, and when she came home, she'd run from the street car and up the stairs so that she might hold Emily that much sooner. She clearly loved Emily deeply and didn't want to be away from her as she went to sizeable lengths to spend as much time with Emily as she could. • 8. A Mother's Love and a Daughter's Growth Essay A Mother's Love and a Daughter's Growth Many times love is thought of in terms of relationships with someone of the opposite sex. It often times includes emotional as well as physical attraction. Amy Tan's novel, The Bonesetter's Daughter, examines the love that takes another form: the love between a parent and child. In a heartfelt examination of the relationship between mother and daughter, Amy Tan brings to life the feeling of love a daughter often takes for granted in the relationship with her mother. In order to express the development of the characters in her novel, Tan uses time in a most useful manner. She draws upon the present in her portrayal of Ruth Young, daughter of LuLing Young. She uses the past to create a ...show more content... Misunderstandings begin to surface between the daughter born in America and the mother raised in a very different culture. At a young age, Ruth sees her mother's ideas, practices, and motivations, as ancient in nature and resistant to modern times. LuLing struggles with her daughter's independent qualities and stubbornness. The miscommunication between young daughter and mother are ever clear in the brief exchange of these words: "'Why I have daughter like you? Why I live? Why I don't die long time 'go? You want I die?' Ruth was shaking but shrugged as nonchalantly as she could. 'I really don't care'" (Tan 146). In adulthood, Ruth understands her frustrations as a child were just that, childish. Her mother's Alzheimer's diagnosis has shown Ruth how precious and important the family connection is: "As the years go on, I see how much family means. It reminds us of what's important. That connection to the past. The same jokes about being Young yet getting old. The traditions. The fact that we can't get rid of each other no matter how much we try. We're stuck through the ages, with the bonds cemented by sticky rice and tapioca pudding. Thank you all for being who you are." (Tan 93) As Ruth is faced with the uncertainty of her mother's future, she dives wholeheartedly into her mother's past. The pages her mother gave her so

  • 10. Mother Definition Essay Growing up, I was used to being bombarded by stories from both my mother and father. My mother with her religious stories, and my father with his experiences from when he was a little boy living in Vietnam. What I noticed in all of my mother's stories, was that she was trying to get a certain message across. Be good. If there is anything that my mother is more stern on then studies, it would be on being a "good" person that knows their morals and can perfectly execute and stand by it. My mother's definition of "good", is being selfless, caring, and honest, by being so you will be rewarded by having to the choice to go to Heaven, or to get reincarnated into a higher position in society. My mother made it her duty to raise me with the same morals as her since she believed that hers was "right". She believed that the perfect human being was one that was always willing to give and one who was always honest....show more content... He does not know whether or not God or exists, or if there is a higher being, but what he does know is he saw a ghost, which lead him to believe in an afterlife. My father's way of thinking is similar to that Aristotle's. Aristotle believed that through our senses, we will find truth. That first, we use senses, and then use reason afterwards to categorize the things we experience. My father used his senses, sight, to establish that there is an afterlife. My mother is like my father, in the sense that they both believe in an afterlife. However, unlike my father, my mother is a very religious woman who is very faithful to her Catholic beliefs, although with some altercations. My mother believes that when a person dies, they will get to have the choice of whether they want to go to Heaven, or get reincarnated into a person with a higher social standing in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. My Most Important Mentors In My Life : My Mother I could say I have many mentors in my life, but my most important mentor is my mom. A mentor to me is someone who critically guides you through your life decisions and provokes endless learning from their life experiences and wisdom. The only person who meets my idea of a mentor is my mom. I have known her since birth and have always felt loved and cared by her. She gives me every tool I could possibly need to succeed through primary school and onto postsecondary schooling. She has always given me words of encouragement, been honest when I am in the wrong, and has always pushed me to reach my potential. I went to my mom on a Sunday, which is family day in our house. We went out to lunch with my brother since he was visiting from college, and I got the opportunity to ask my mom about her views on Mitch's and my topics. In my conversation with my mom we talked about three topics; A meaningful life, Family, and Education. Mitch's first topic was what it means to have a meaningful life. My mom believes that what it means to have a meaningful life, is that it should not be defined by money or other people's opinions. But rather it should be defined by your happiness and compassion for the things you do in your everyday life. When discussing Mitch's second topic, family, my mom believes that the most important thing is that family is there for you to be honest, and to be critical of your decisions in life. We both agreed they should be supportive of your passions and beliefs, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Essay on Working Mothers It is often said that, "Man's work ends at sun set. Women's work is never done." With sixty–three million women working and 62% of those women maintaining families, most women would this statement very true (AFL–CIO). While women are expanding their lives to include a career, they must also maintain their traditional roles at home. This combination of housework and career–work is the reason why working mothers today have more stress than working fathers. Mothers may work in an office from nine to five, but their work does not end at the office. After working an eight–hour day, a mother will come home to take care of her children, husband, and house. Women remain the primary caretaker and housekeeper...show more content... Also, since husbands generally work eight more hours a week than their wives do, they tend to miss out on responsibilities, such as feeding their children dinner and breakfast. "Men miss out on meal chores and those tend to be very stressful" says Dr. Barnett (Kelly). More often than not, women's work interferes with family while for men family interferes with work (Bianchi 171). This is because women tend to put family first, and therefore, they feel extra pressure to do well for their family when coming home from work. This feeling only adds to a working mother's stress. Taking care of the elderly is very similar to the demand of taking care of one's children (Bianchi 180). With women now having children later in life, they find themselves responsible for the care of their young children and elderly parents, if they require care, at the same time. One–half of elderly peoples' caregivers work outside of the home and one quarter of them have children at home who require care (Garrett). Whether your parents are living in a nursing facility or at home, it is undeniable the amount of work it takes to care for a loved one. Many elderly people require assistance with medication, eating, and bathing as well as a long list of simple every day tasks. For anyone this is a pretty big responsibility, but imagine caring for a person in such a manner along with caring for one's home and family. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Essay About My Mother 's Pregnancy They talked just long enough for my father to get what we wanted out of the deal. Shortly after, she discovered that she was pregnant with me. I think it 's so funny now because my father likes to say "I just blew on your mom, and she got pregnant. I don 't know how that happened." During my mother 's pregnancy, she discovered a lot of things about my father that would make the average woman infuriated. She found out that he already had a daughter (my oldest sister, Tia) with another woman from his hometown, Detroit, Michigan. And while he was "seeing" her (for a better choice of words) he was also "seeing" another woman who lived in the same area of the city that she lived. And if that wasn 't enough, she found out that woman was also pregnant by my father with my oldest brother, Angel, who is only five months older than me. To make it even worse, she did not obtain any of this information from my father. She learned this information on a trip to the mall, from a mutual friend that my mother and Angel 's mother did not know they shared. My mother was extremely heartbroken and depressed after finding out all of this. She actually believed that her and my father had a future together; which is a joke in itself knowing my father's past. She was in a deep depression for a long period of time. But she knew that she would have to get over it because she was about to have a daughter. • 14. My Reflection On My Mother Essay A mother is someone who can take the place of all others but no one can take the place of her. There are many different definitions you could use to describe your mother. My mother, Pam Krull, fits every one of those. Today I decided to pick the three that I thought was most important to me. I admire and aspire to be like my mother because of how supportive, how selfless, and how loving she is. My mom has gone through a lot to get where she is today. I will begin by telling you a little bit about my mom's background. My mom grew up outside of George with her parents, Harris and Bev Kaster, and her three siblings, Erik, Brad, and Kristy. She attended George High School when they were still Blue Jays. My mom was involved in a lot of different activities. She was in the play, large group and individual speech, a cheerleader, played the drums in band, was in student council, secretary of her class, REC club, band, and jazz band. In her free time she hung out with friends and her sister. She had a few jobs growing up also. She babysat a lot, worked at the library, and the dentist office. My mother also helped teach bible school, catechism, and attended youth group at Hope Reformed Church. My mother met my dad, Doug Krull when she was a junior in high school. They dated for a while and ended getting married. They then had three beautiful daughters, Allyssa, Megan, and Rebecca. • 16. Mother to Mother The purpose of this paper is to introduce, discuss, and analyze the book "Mother to Mother" by Sindiwe Magona. Specifically, it will critically analyze the book. The book "Mother to Mother" is a touching and elegant story of race relations and misunderstanding in South Africa. The author bases her book on a true incident, but looks at it from the eyes of a mother who loves her son but recognizes his inadequacies. It is a devastating look at apartheid, violence, and anger in a society long split between black and white. Well–written with emotion and pathos, it is a book that discovers the difficulties of reconciliation and continuing with life after the death of a loved one. This emotional book looks at...show more content... Clearly, she should have known the dangers of what she was doing, rather than looking at her situation only idealistically. Mandisa, the mother in the story, does not make excuses for her son, she knows his act was reprehensible, but she does understand his young life has been filled with despair, betrayal, and difficulty. She notes, "Understand the people among whom he has lived all his life. Nothing my son does surprises me any more. Not after that first unbelievable shock, his implanting himself inside me; unreasonably and totally destroying the me I was. The me I would have become" (Magona). Mandisa gave birth to her son when she was only fifteen, and it changed her life, just as it would change the young white girl's life eventually. In an interview about the book, author Magona elaborates: It is a well–known fact that children of children are at high risk of not finishing school. Mandisa is a perfect example of the success of apartheid––she is the perfect product of that system––her talent is stillborn; so is that of her children. Society will never benefit from the gifts they brought to the world. I firmly believe no child is born without potential. She has always taught me to always try my hardest and to treat everyone equally and with respect. My mom's heart and determination is what I hope to have one day. My mom tried her hardest to keep her tears in, but she couldn't, it was just too hard for her. I hugged my mom and told her that everything was going to be alright and that I love her so much. My mom has her down moments, but she also has those exciting, fun moments. The week before summer vacation in sixth grade, my mom and I decided to go to Elitch Gardens in Denver, Colorado. The road trip was super fun, but there was quite a lot of traffic that day. Once we arrived, we bought our tickets and went through security. • 19. Becoming a Mom Changed My Life Essay Two of the greatest days of my life were the days my daughters were born. The first time I held the both of them and gazed into their eyes I felt a sense of relief and hope. The feeling is a warm tingling sensation that engulfed my entire body. The emotions that I felt are beyond what words can explain. It's amazing to me that in the first few minutes of their lives they completely changed my perception of the world. Motherhood has taught me many life lessons. Before becoming a mother, I was a self centered child. I had no motivation to succeed. All I was worried about was where the next party was. But no matter how many times they fall, they get up and try again. It has taught me that no matter what obstacles occur, if I just continue to try I can and will succeed. My daughters are my motivation to succeed. Each day I work very hard to provide for them. Some days I really just want to give up. I don't want to be a student, I don't want to work. I just want to quit. But when I think to myself how their faces light up at the sight of me, Mommy. I realize that if I quit now I'm quitting on them. It is pure and unconditional. There is no greater feeling than when my two year old say "Mommy I love you" or when my ten month old gives me kisses. • 20. Personal Narrative : My Mother And My Mom After my mother and I have an argument she usually smiles at me and says, it's because we're so much alike that we argue. She reminds me that our lack of communicating often stirs more trouble than why we were arguing. I used to get upset that my mom didn't set time aside for our family to spend time together or make us eat together at the dinner table. I was upset because I was comparing our family to my friends' families. I valued those things and assumed my mom didn't, but I was wrong. My mom had so much on her mind everyday it was breaking her on the inside. Not only had I wanted my mom to be like my friend's moms, now I had wanted my mom to be different because she was depressed. Bonhoeffer mentions that we desire images of others that we want, but aren't the true image they bear as Christ's (pg37–38). At first I was puzzled. How is a good image of mine, not Christ's image for her? I learned that His image is neither right nor wrong, but simply uniquely divine. My mom could have done those things, but her whole life would have had to be different, and I would never want to change who my mom is. The few times we did get to spend time together as a family, it wouldn't feel like it. I knew all the relationships between my family members. I was the one who they told everything to but ask me not to tell anyone. This was a lot of weight on my shoulders because I began caring for everyone else's relationships; especially my mom's because my brother and sister would argue Get more content on HelpWriting.net
