2. WHAT IS CLIMATE CHANGE ?
Climate change, also called GLOBAL
WARMING, refers to the rise in average
surface temperatures on Earth.
Due to change in atmosphere the world is
warming, climatic zones are shifting;
glaciers are melting and sea level is rising.
3. CAUSES OF CLIMATE CHANGE :-
Primary causes:-
Burning of fossil fuels such as oil & coals which
emits greenhouse gases into the atmosphere
primarily carbon dioxide.
Agriculture and deforestation, also contribute to
the proliferation of greenhouse gases that cause
climate change.
4. CLIMATE VARIABILITY:-
Climate variability refers
the climatic parameter of a region varying
from its long-term mean.
Variations in the mean state and other
statistics of the climate on all temporal and
spatial scales, beyond
individual weather events.
5.
6.
7. GLOBAL WARMING :-
Global warming is the ongoing rise of the
average temperature of the
Earth's climate system.
Climate system and has been demonstrated
by direct temperature measurements and by
measurements of various effects of
the warming.
8. CLIMATE CHANGE IMPACT ON REGIONAL &
NATIONAL AGRICULTURE :-
Climate change can disrupt food
availability, reduce access to food,
and affect food quality.
For example,
1. projected increases in temperatures,
2. Changes in precipitation patterns,
3. Changes in extreme weather events
9. Reductions in water availability may all
result in reduced agricultural productivity
Changes in pests and diseases
Changes in atmospheric carbon
dioxide and ground-
level ozone concentrations;
Changes in the nutritional quality of some
foods
Changes in sea level
