2. Unit Overview
Each student will be placed in a group
and taught how to learn the game of
softball. They will eventually play in regular
season games and have to show good
sportsmanship through out the unit. At the
end, the student will play in a playoff
tournament. The Teacher will hold
students accountable for showing good
sportsmanship.
3. Standards
Display good sportsmanship in physical
education settings.
Apply problem-solving, conflict resolution,
and teamwork strategies to cooperative
and group challenges in physical
education settings.
4. Objectives
After this unit, students will be able to work
with a team and compete in a softball game.
After this unit, students will be able to show
good sportsmanship on and off the playing
field.
After this unit, students will be able to apply
problem-solving, conflict resolution. And
teamwork strategies to cooperative and
group challenges.
5. By the end of this unit, students will be
able to answer the following questions:
How does playing sports benefit the
body?
How can you make sports enjoyable for
all ages?
What does it mean to show good
sportsmanship?
How many outs are there in an inning?
How can you tell the difference between
a softball and a baseball field?
6. What is Project Based Learning?
Project Based Learning (PBL) is a dynamic
approach to teaching in which students
explore real-world problems and
challenges.
Through PBL, students will not only
become better learners, but they will also
learn to collaborate with other students
while being introduced to new ideas.
