Bihar is a state in East India ,bordering Nepal .It is divided by the River Ganges which floods its fertile plains. Important
Buddhist Pilgrimage sites include the Bodhi Tree in Bodhgaya’s Mahabodhi Temple under which the Buddha allegedly
meditated. In the state capital Patna, Mahavir Mandir temple is revered by Hindus ,while Sikhs worship at the domed
riverside Gurdwara of Talent Sri Harmandir Sahib ji.

5. History of Bihar
Bihar is the third –largest state by population and twelfth –largest by territory ,with
an area of 94,163 km sq. (36,357 sq. m). It is contiguous with Uttar Pradesh to its
West Nepal to the north ,the northern part of West Bengal to the east ,and with
Jharkhand to the South .
 Bihar was knows as Magadha in ancient times.
 It was a centre of power ,learning and culture.

6. Geography of Bihar
Bihar is located in the eastern region of the India ,between latitudes 24 deg 31’15”N
and longitudes 83 deg 19’50”E and 88 deg 17’40”E’ .It is an entirely land –located state,
in a subtropical region of the Zone .
 Bihar covers a total area of 94,163 km sq(36,357 sq mi),with an average elevation
above sea level of 173 feet (53m).
 It is land locked by Nepal in north, Jharkhand in the south west Bengal in the east
and Uttar Pradesh to the west.
 The plains of the Bihar have come into existence by the sediments deposited by the
rivers.
 Georaphaphically , Bihar is bounded by the Himalayan foothills .

the financial year.

Bihar has attained international recognition thought arts and craft since several centuries . The famous Madhubani and
Mithila painting are at par and renowned on national spectrum and are therefore usually denoted with India.
The Madhubani painting were done by the village women Mithila with vegetable dyes on the walls . The painting is
