8. Conclusions
• GST has the potential to engage a broader audience beyond the UNFCCC negotiating
process and accelerate progress towards different areas of the Paris Agreement.
• Realizing this potential depends on different factors including the:
• Design of the process,
• Participation of relevant stakeholders,
• Overall package of outputs, who they target, and if they are followed up over time.
• Lessons from past experiences provide insights on how to design the GST process and
outputs to help reach desired outcomes and support the goals of the Paris Agreement.
