The Director of Engineering will oversee the maintenance and broadcasting of over 400 radio station locations. They will manage engineers and technicians, make recommendations to improve broadcast quality, and troubleshoot any broadcast problems. The Director must have at least 15 years of experience in radio engineering, 10 years of managing engineering staff, strong communication skills, and an FCC license.

Position Purpose:
Oversees the engineering and technical integrity of the network and is familiar with AM and/or FM
transmitters, combiners and antenna systems, and satellite broadcast. Able to manage large-scale projects such
as studio builds or transmitter installations, and have expertise in directional arrays, studio equipment, and
computer and telephone systems as well.

Job Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
• Direct the maintenance and repairs on-site and remote broadcast equipment: Microwave Receive Sites,
Satellite Dishes, Equipment Centers, Studios, Control Rooms, and Newsrooms.
• Works with operations on remote field productions - setting up, breaking down and troubleshooting
receivers and transmitters, cables and switchers. Establishing and maintaining satellite, microwave
and/or MPEG transmission links.
• May be called out any time of the day for initiating repairs
• Coordinates repair of equipment with outside vendors.
• Works with all users to determine technical needs and concerns.
• Oversees the documentation and equipment maintenance history database and generates status reports
for both users and supervisor.
• Provides primary vendor interface for troubleshooting complex system issues.
• Resolves software problems beginning at the lowest level (user – tech - vendor).
• Evaluates, researches and recommends equipment and software acquisitions for the network sites
• Oversees the Installation and upgrades of systems components and software as directed.
• Maintains equipment center and workshop, spare parts inventory, tools and storage areas.

2. • Ensures that disaster recovery methods are accurate and accessible (Back-ups.)
Will troubleshoot equipment and recommend appropriate solutions including vendor repair, in house
repair or equipment replacement.
• Will routinely review broadcast equipment, software, work stations and develop and carry out regular
maintenance schedule that will reduce damage and loss due to everyday wear and tear.
• Works closely with Chief Engineer, IT Manager and peers to develop proficiency resolving engineering
and IT issues.
• Quickly isolate and troubleshoot engineering and IT issues in a demanding work environment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electronics at the component level. Read, interpret and update station drawings,
flow charts and cable run lists.
• Develop work around to keep systems running and multi-channel network on air.
• Take direction well and be able to work with vendor support over the phone to resolve issues.

Adequately:
• A college degrees in electrical and computer engineering, training at technical college or military training in radio
engineering is required
• 15 or more years in radio/television broadcast engineering is required
• 10 or more years of managing radio or television engineering and technical staff is required
• An FCC license is mandatory and SBE certification is preferred.
• Must agree to the corporation’s statement of faith
