4. INTRODUCTION
An effective Ethernet cable configuration
is one that provides stable and proper
wire crimp in every termination.
We need focus and awareness of the
safety in our workplace in performing
Ethernet cable configuration or the OHS
Standard. (Occupational Health and
Safety Standards)

5. A straight through cable is a type of
twisted pair cable that is used to
connect a computer to a local area
network, such as a switch.
What is Straight Through Cable?
It connects two dissimilar devices.

7. HOW TO CONFIGURE
1. Strip the cable jacket one full
inch.
2. Untwist the wires.
3. Arrange the wires according to
the selected color-coding
scheme or pinout (T568B or
T568A).
4. Grasp the wires and flattened
them between your thumb and
forefinger.
5. While holding the wires firmly
cut-off the wires ½” from the
cable.
6. Insert the wire into the RJ45
connector.
7. Inspect each wire is flat even at
the front of the RJ45 Connector.
8. Carefully Insert into the
crimping tool and firmly crimp
the RJ45.
9. Use a network cable tester to
test your Ethernet cable.
10. DO Step 1 to 9 at the other end
of the Cable.

8. IMPORTANT NOTES
CORE COMPETENCY CSS NC II
•Ethernet cable configuration is the process of creating LAN
cable that is used for interconnecting computers, routers,
switches and other network devices.
•Straight Through Cable configuration is used to connect
different network devices.
•A straight-through cable uses one wiring standard in
terminating both ends of the cable.
