Editor's Notes

  1. Ideas for teachers or presenters Please, note that the first 5 slides are for the teachers’ information prior to using this Learning Package and implementing this into the course or curriculum.
  2. Ideas for teachers or presenters Please, use the presentation in the class starting from this slide.
  3. Ideas for the teacher/presenter:  Ask students how they would define HEALTH?
  4. - The new description of health was introduced in 2011, since the traditional World Health Organization (WHO) definition of health  was no longer suitable, with the rising numbers of non-communicable diseases (1). - It considers health from an asset-based perspective that goes beyond focusing of disease/illness by also including the individual’s perceived sense of control and coping with life events (1).
  5. Ideas for the teacher/presenter:  Read more: Salutogenesis and Positive Health. Vandenhoudt, H., Vesa P. & Nevelsteen D. In DigiNurse Model  : A New Approach to Digital Coaching for Nursing Students. Tampereen ammattikorkeakoulu, 2021. Print Antonovsky (1983) wondered how, during World War II, some of the women in the concentration camps remained in good health despite experiencing both physical abuse and mental stress. Antonovsky launched the concept of a "sense of coherence"(SOC). SOC is the feeling of coherence of all things and the confidence that everything is going well. It sees health as the interconnectedness of mind and body as a whole. Ask students: what could the internal and the external resources of a patient be?
  6. Ideas for the teacher/presenter:  Ask students to brainstorm what comes to mind when they think of the word positive health. Collect the ideas on e.g. a Flinga wall or some other interactive wall, and group them quickly if possible. After you have studied the concept during the lecture, (at the end of the lecture) compare the theoretical knowledge with these ideas of the students.
  7. Ideas for the teacher/presenter:  - In 2011, Huber et al's research group in the Institute for Positive Health, proposed a new concept of "positive health“, which is gaining currency. (5) - The concept of positive health is based on Antonovsky's research and is linked to SOC.(2)
  8. Ideas for the teacher/presenter:  TASK from DigiNurse Model  : A New Approach to Digital Coaching for Nursing Students. Tampereen ammattikorkeakoulu, 2021. Print. Page p. 80-82. • Download the positive health spiderweb: https://www.iph.nl/meedoen/gratis-downloaden/ - How do you perceive your health at this moment? - Give yourself a score from 1-10 for each of the six domains and connect the scores on the spiderweb. - Questions to yourself about your spiderweb: • What are you very pleased with? • What is important to you? • What would you like to change? - What things students think most importat to them/what they would need to improve in each sector of positive health?
  9. Ideas for the teacher/presenter:  - Self assesment of students’ own life – how am i in these areas, what are my strengths, what are my weaknesses. - Ask students to fill their own spiderwebs.
  10. Ideas for the teacher/presenter:  Self assesment of students’ own life – how am I in these areas, what are my strengths, what are my weaknesses. This can also be a preliminary task prior to attending the class. During the class, pair or group discussions can be conducted based on students’ thoughts.

  12. Ideas for the teacher/presenter:  What things students think most importat to them/what they would need to improve in each sector of positive health? Ask them if they could fill their own spiderwebs.
