Short Presentation Understanding Printing

 1. 1. Why do we have problems with sending files to the printer all the time?
Understanding Printing
2. 2. Graphic design is based on design from the computer.
Computers are based on how we view color (RGB)
Designing is fun and I can do anything when it comes to images Gradients and Fonts.
Graphic Design Language
3. 3. Printing is based on Inks Printed on Paper
Printing Inks create abundances of color from 4 Inks (C, M, Y, & K)
When printing it comes off of the press in dots on the paper.
Printer Language
4. 4. Colors
Quality of Images
Fonts
Output
Medium format printing, Brochures, cards, fliers, etc.
Large format printing, Banners, Posters, vehicle wraps, etc.
Stock – inventory or paper type?
What does that mean to me?
5. 5. Colors
RGB
CMYK
More color(s) added the lighter it gets.
More color(s) added the darker it gets.
6. 6. With vision being 3 colors and printed inks being 4 colors there has to be a translation of the 3 colors into 4 colors to print.
Colors made from light are more brilliant and light than inks on paper.
The lightest color you can get when printing is the color of the paper it is printed on. There is no such thing as white ink.
Colors
7. 7. Understanding the translations from a basic aspect of Light to Inks and understanding what takes place when put on paper.
Colors on papers will need the proper translations depending on output type (Medium, High Format or Screen print, etc.).
What is the solution?
8. 8. Helping people understand that PDF’s are becoming a mainstay and much easier for printers to use.
There are problems if sent in too low of resolution PDF it won’t work well for final output.
Training on PDF’s
9. 9. This is just one of the samples we talk about with the Seminar I do to help people understand the basics of Printing.
I know I can help people understand them on a basic level, and with this knowledge you will be spending less time fixing and more time doing what makes money for you which is the actual printing.
Visit my site for dates and times on seminars and/or webinars as they become available.
www.nielgraphics.com
Seminar and Soon to be Webinar
