AIM AND PURPOSE

The aim and purpose of presenting my initial ideas is to gain peer feedback to find out
which of my three ideas is the best. The tree genres I chose were pop, dance and
R&B. I will present these ideas to my class whom will them give feedback, on their
favorite idea, what I did well and what I need to improve. This will help me to
engage with my target audience better and produce a magazine that they will be
    interested in and enjoy.
IDEA 1 - POP
• My target audience would be around 15-22 year
olds. Pop magazines mostly appeal to girls rather
then boys, reducing the range of my target
    audience
• Bright colours would be used to make it stand
out, and draw in my target audience.
Blues, oranges and purples are good colours to
use. The font must be easy to read, the current
font I am using would be a good example (franklin
    gothic book)
• The language style would have to be fairly informal
so that the readers will enjoy reading my magazine
and not find it a struggle.
IDEA 2 - DANCE
• My target audience would be around 17-25 year
    olds.
• I would use fairly bright colours that would make
my magazine stand out. Reds, Blues and Purples
may be good. The font must be easy to read, the
current font I am using would be a good example
    (franklin gothic book).
• DJ magazine is a good example of what I would
like to achieve when making my magazine.
• The language style would have to be fairly
informal so that the readers will enjoy reading my
magazine and not find it a struggle.
IDEA 3 – R&B
• My target audience would be around 14-20 year
    olds.
• I would use a simple colour scheme that will still be
noticed by my target audience. Reds, golds and
Blues would be good colours to use. The font must
be easy to read, the current font I am using
would be a good example (Arial Unicode MS).
• VIBE magazine is a good example of what I achieve
    with my magazine.
• Magazines like vibe do not just try to cover one
genre but a few genres, this is something that I
would try to do as it increase the range of my target
    audience.
• The language style would have to be fairly informal
so that the readers will enjoy reading my magazine
and not find it a struggle.
FEEDBACK
         Positive feedback Negative feedback
Idea 1 Popular genre, therefore it There are many similar
will sell well. magazines on the market, it is
not original. The age range is
                                       also too low.
Idea 2 The colours will work well Age range is too low
         together, but deeper shades
         should be used. This will
         make the magazine stand
         out more.
Idea 3 The colour scheme would There is too much of the same
look good thing and the age range is too
                                       low.
CHOSEN IDEA
• After the peer assessment was conducted, idea 2 (dance magazine) was shown
to be the favorite. This was because there is a gap in the market for this type of
magazine. I also received suggestions and improvements for my magazine, the
main improvement was to raise my target audience age range. It could also
involve club reviews, and bright colours to resemble the bright flashing lights of
the club environment., this could also be a theme that I carry out in my
photoshoot. By mentioning big dance music artists, my magazine is much more
    likely to be more popular.
• Over all of my magazines, my age ranges are too low and must be raised up. This
is because some of the content of the music may not be appropriate for younger
readers. There is also a gap in the market for a dance magazine, whereas there
are too many pop and R&B magazines, it could be considered as a crowded
    market.
