Music Placement for Animation
1. Nick Orlando
Animation Title: Glydiator
Musical genre selection(s) & reason: Electronic: Dubstep. I chose this genre
because it really showcases the intensity and action of the scene, while also
complimenting the setting’s futuristic nature and characters.
Scene 1 (Intro/Main Title Credits):
Music source: Westar
Song Title: Perpetual Strength

Songwriter(s): Joseph Rusnak
How music fits scene/affects audience: The song starts with a crash a very
eerie/intense piano melody played in a minor key which really sets the tone for
the intensity for the upcoming scene
Scene 2 (description): Camera pans over the setting, characters are introduced
Music source: Westar
Song Title: Perpetual Strength

Songwriter(s): Joseph Rusnak
How music fits scene/affects audience: After the Title goes away and the camera
is panning over the setting of the scene, there are uprising and whirling sound
effects that mimic the effect of the spaceship flying, again building the
anticipation and intensity. It continues to build and the first “drop” occurs just as
the giant robot or “mid-boss” is introduced. Given the genre of the song
(dubstep), the glitchy and robotic synth voices match this character introduction
perfectly. Also, the first “stomp” of the robot’s foot hits perfectly on a kick hit,
really accentuating the power of the robot’s stomp. The song continues to build
until the last character, “Bob the Wuss” is introduced, and again drops into the
piano intro which gives a feeling of anxiety and anticipation.
Scene 3 (description): Bob the Wuss cruising on the glide board / battle with the
Boss.
Music source: Westar
Song Title: No Negotiation

Songwriter(s): Joseph Rusnak
How music fits scene/affects audience: This song drops right into a heavy drum
beat with an uprising sound effect to build to the first drop. It gives the feeling
that it is “game time” for Bob the Wuss – time for him to step up and battle the
Boss and save the girl. When he saves the girl and she is released, the main
synth line and bass completely drop out to some airy sawtooth synths, which give
a feeling of “relief” now that he has defeated the boss and freed the girl.
