3. During the class
The class is developed only in English.
Laugh, talk, participate and try your best, less than
that is not acceptable.
If you have questions: ASK.
If you do not understand something ASK.
If you are not sure about something ASK.
No cellphones allowed unless previous authorization
Respect every person during the class, ask politely
and pay attention to the teacher when he explains
something.
4. Class structure
One term is (usually) 13 weeks long, each term is divided in two main stages:
(Design’s summative task)
WEEKS 1 TO 6 WEEKS 6 TO 13
Learning tech concepts and developing
abilities by practicing.
(All this grades will be part of Criterion C in
your Phidias)
5. No notebooks structure
Since we do not use notebooks in MYP anymore, all the necessary information will be
available in the E-Learning.
6. About materials and projects.
I will borrow you any tool you need only in the
workshop, if you need to take it out, leave me you
cellphone or smartwatch and fill the form. If by any
chance you lost or damage it, you have to pay it.
All materials are yours, projects too. I will not store
them here if it is not necessary, if you want to recycle
its components, do it, if you want to throw the entire
project, do it… But is your responsibility.
Use the tools safely, protect yourself and be careful,
use security equipment and measures, I do not want
any accidents.
7. About practices
Starting this year, practices are individual (except LEGO Mindstorms), because you all have your
tech kits. Each practice is designed for you to finish during class, so it depends on you to have
your grades or not.
If you do not bring your kit for the class at the beginning of it, there are two options:
1. You can go to bring your kit from the locker and if you finish during class, and be graded
over 6.
2. If you do not have an available kit, you will be graded as “late”, over 4 whenever you
present.
*I do not store kits here in the workshop.
8. About practices
If by any chance, you cannot finish the practice during the class, but you worked properly on
it, you have the chance to complete the practice at home, record a video (showing your face
and the practice working) and send it to me (Phidias) the same day to be graded over 7.
If you do nothing during class, do not come (without a valid excuse) and never present, or
simply do not want to present, you will find a 1 in Phidias.
Late turned in assignments will be graded over 4.
The evidence of your practices will be reflected in your grades,
also in the practices folder, where you have to seal each
completed practice.
So, every time you complete a practice, make sure to seal it.
9. About the summative task
The summative task will be always online in your E-Learning team’s folders, it is the evidence
of the design process of the term’s last half.
The design process is planned to be developed in teams (2 or 3 students), you are only
allowed to work alone during the Third term.
The programmed dates in the schedule will not change, they are designed for you to finish
your projects before the final exams. The summative tasks will be graded on Tuesdays.
In your team’s folder (E-Learning) you will find 2 files:
Summative task template: Contains the IB’s grading scheme, clarifications and all the
instructions to complete the task properly.
Grading tables: The feedback of your summative task.
10. Things to know
If you do not come to class (for any reason), please look for me personally, it
will be easier to find a solution talking.
If you feel uncomfortable with anything in the class, the best thing to do is to
tell me, it does not matter if it is related to the class, to your partners, to me. I
can help you.
I will nag you personally, and congratulate you in front of all the group, try to
do the same if you need to say something.
