 This lesson plan requires students to create a Laptop
information presentation by Microsoft PowerPoint.
 Student are needed to work with two other students
to complete this Laptop presentation together.
Lesson Summary

 Each group needs to present a project about laptop,
each group member should present technical details
about one laptop model and this laptop’s brand
should be different with other group members in
your group.
 Also, you should add your own Pro & Con opinion
about this laptop model, and tell us why you think it
good or bad.
Lesson Summary (continued)

 Students could find your two group partners by
yourself, if you can’t get into a group, just feel free to
see me and I will arrange group for you.
 Also, if you want to join two or more groups, go to
see me and talk your opinion, I will consider to let
you in.
How we will be grouped

 Group study could collect each member’s advantages,
focus multiple strengths and create fancier projects.
 Each group member in this project needs to present one
laptop model details and his/her own Pro & Con about it.
You should discuss with group members and finally
present 3 awesome models for us.
 Also, you need to compare with your two group members’
model which they choose, and tell us the simple
comparison results. (For example, on Display part, I think
my model is better, because…)
Why we need to be grouped

 Each group should ask other group questions, which
will be counted to Final Grade your group get, so
group members should think it over and ask high-
qualities questions. Each group at least ask 5
questions during whole Laptop Brainstorm
presentation. But your group can only ask each other
group one question. (be creative!)
Why we need to be grouped (continued)

 A group presentation PowerPoint file, which
includes 3 laptop models analysis.
 Do presentation in classroom group by group, and
each group member should present his/her model.
 Ask questions to the other groups.
 Submit a group evaluation form to me after
presentation (it could be downloaded in
http://www...), it about what do you think your
partners’ work, how many percentage they attribute
to the project, etc…
Project will be completed like

 Teacher:

can check the whole lesson plan online, the address is
http://www...

 After this project, you would have a basic knowledge
about laptops, and you would get a lot laptop information,
which will be useful for buying a laptop
 You would have the ability to judge and analyze a laptop
whether it fits for you or not after completing this lesson.
 You will enhance your team work ability, also, you
would learn how to present project by PowerPoint and
some asking question skills.
What we could get from this project

 First week.
Students need to read my lesson plan on SlideShare online, think
about this project, set up your group, make sure it includes 3
students in the group. And send the group members list to me.
I will give you some project simples in the class. For instance, I will
compare some laptop models in the class, but just one tiny part,
such as CPU, harddrive, outlook, cost-performance, etc. you need
to go further and deeper in your projects base on my simples.
If you meet any problems about this, feel free to go to see me in my
office. Also if you need my help for this project, just go to my office
directly!
Timeline

 Second week
Students need to learn how to use PowerPoint and use
Google Search to search information you need. Also,
your group will need to find 3 laptop models for this
project, write down and send them to me before the
end of this week.
Timeline (continued)

Timeline (continued)
 Second week (continued)
1. I will teach how to use PowerPoint in the class, how to create slides,
insert text, image, add animations, music, etc. Students need to
follow me step by step to learn how to use PowerPoint basically.
2. I will send you some PowerPoint learning lectures, you can learn
skills from those lectures. Also, I put some useful website links in
my lectures as well, you can go online learn PowerPoint better.
For instance: www.lynda.com
http://www.lynda.com/PowerPoint-2010-tutorials/new-features/64003-
2.html?srchtrk=index%3A2%0Alinktypeid%3A2%0Aq%3APowerPoi
nt%0Apage%3A1%0As%3Arelevance%0Asa%3Atrue%0Aproducttyp
eid%3A2

3. Then we go to Google search study and practice, I will teach
you how to do information seeking on Google search, how to
use Google image search to look & save images, how to search
more effectively? How to set Google “search setting”,
“advance search” etc.
4. We do some practice on Google search part. I will arrange
some little tasks in the class, you need to use Google search to
find it. Very simple, just make sure you follow me.
For instance: Find a HP Envy 15 laptop image;
Find the technical-details list of the Macbook Pro
(newest version).
Timeline (continued)

 Third week
We will do presentation this week! Please use PowerPoint to
create final PPT file and send it to me before we do
presentation in the classroom. Also, don’t forget think about
questions, you need to ask other groups questions to get
scores. In addition, each group member needs to submit the
group evaluation form to me before the end of this Sunday.
Questions you ask should present your technical and
creative thinking, but must be politely and no prejudice.
Timeline (continued)

 Fourth week
Students will get grade and feedback of this project. If
you feel unsatisfied with this grade, you have a week to
improve and fix it after I graded it. I will re-grade your
group project if you chose to go to my office and
represent to me. So be relax and have fun!
Timeline (continued)

 P. S.
If you meet any problems during this project, for
example: you can’t find a group or you don’t know
how to find a specific laptop model, just feel FREE to go
to see me. My office hour is : Mon-Fri, 9am-11am. Or
we can arrange other times.
Timeline (continued)

 Students should submit each file on time, otherwise I
will give an appropriate reduction on your each part
grade.
 Students should not “copy” whole analysis from
Internet, you should have your own opinion of the
laptop model. I will be strict with this issue. If I find
the plagiarism, cribbing and falsification in your
project, I will give F.
Assessment Plan
