Important Points
 Good Topic Sentence is complete with a
subject, a verb and a controlling idea; it
is neither general nor specific.It states
the main idea.
 Good Supporting sentences explain the
topic sentence; are specific,can be
examples, statistics or quotations
 Good Concluding Sentence signals end
of paragraph, summarizes important
points and restates topic sentence in
different words

 Coherence – stick together, use nouns
and pronouns, use linking words
