Re: Reference for Nathan York
To whom it may concern:
In the summer of 2015, I had the distinct opportunity to mentor and work alongside Mr. Nathan York. I was
honored when Nathan requested to serve his internship with me as part of his studies at Indiana Wesleyan. As an
employer, I am always on the lookout for talent to add to the rosters of my businesses and Nathan’s
professionalism and attention to detail most definitely caught my eye.
The following is a bullet list of the observations of extraordinary behavior I noticed in Nathan during our two
months or so together:
Timeliness – day in and day out, Nathan was always on time and stayed until our work together that day
was complete. He always exhibited an attitude of “the work comes first.”
Politeness – throughout our time together, Nathan attended an abundance of meetings with me, often
meeting dozens of new people in a given day. He was consistently polite and professional at all times,
much as I would expect a seasoned veteran to behave.
Reliability – shortly after Nathan’s assignment with me, I came to rely upon him for help with projects on
my plate. My projects were not of a technical nature, rather those of an executive and he stepped up to
assist with my workload. I never once had to remind him of a deadline.
Resourcefulness – Given my unpredictable day, calendar, workload, etc., Nathan frequently found himself
in situations where he was called upon to accomplish a task with little or no guidance, framework or
instructions. I quickly came to rely upon his resourcefulness as he’d take a problem home, research the
matter and return with options for resolution the next day. What a joy that was to experience!
Authenticity – Nathan’s faith is not something he wears on his sleeve. During our conversations and as I
was wrestling with an issue or challenge, we would frequently discuss the decision-making process of a
believer for a given situation. I found Nathan’s depth of faith and his authenticity to be refreshing.
In summation, as you might have determined by now, I really hated to see Nathan return to school as I had grown
quite fond of having him around. I came to rely upon him, enjoyed his company and found his friendship to be
refreshing. I’m confident, as you consider this bright young man to be part of your team, you will find Nathan to be
a significant contributor and these character traits to be of tall measure for your organization. I stand ready to
answer any questions you might have regarding Nathan. My phone number is 317.490.4376 and my email address
