2. Confidence and Independence Before this course, I had great confidence in my ability to express my thoughts and opinions. However, since joining this course, I have realized that my skills were definitely not up to par and I need to work on improving them. I always felt my writing skills were great until I was told otherwise. My professor stated that my writing was too “flowery” and suggested that I change my writing style back to my journalism days.
3. Skills and Strategies In this course I’ve learned many basic skills such as embedding videos into Wiki. I now understand how to research information correctly, using special keynote words, scholar resources, and taking advantage of the universities resources for papers and projects. I have learned to write down key points while reading chapters for class. This has helped improve my ability to voice my opinions by giving me points of reference to what was presented in the text. Now I’m even more confident speaking openly about materials in class. Blogging has helped me express my personal opinions better than I was able to before. I have been vastly improved in my ability to give my personal opinion in front of others.
4. Knowledge and Understanding This course has taught me that in order to learn and understand significant information we have to stay organized in everything we do. This has helped me in this class and in others: Jewish Studies – all my notes are organized with my individual readings. Education Class – my notes from student reviews are placed in order from the day they are given: this has landed me a great grade for being organized and focused Spanish – my readings are in sync with all my labs and homework assignments.
5. Prior and Emerging Experience Tying the reading to a personal experience to draw more meaning is probably the best way I can relate with the class. An example of this was when I related to author Colin Beavan by remembering the state in which my family and I found each other after a hurricane; giving up all types of simple desires and having to rely on solely on the environmental. (cutting trees for fire or using palm leafs for window covers) I found myself using this in our class readings and in others. Leading me to comprehend the data better then before.
6.
7. Fixing my problem before it continued I learned to keep the essay and sources separate.
8.
9. Creativity, Originality, Imagination I plan to find my creativity, originality and imagination later along the term. I just haven’t seen myself be as creative as I can be. - HONEST TRUTH!
10. Five Dimension Confidence & Independence: developing how I balance my confidence in class. This would be bringing it to a standard where I feel confident and independent in. Skills & Strategies: Learning basic skills and strategies that I can apply not only in 306 but in other classes as well. These are skills and strategies I can honestly say I will value for years to come. Knowledge & Understanding: I believe that in order for a person to learn and understand the material one needs to have a clean and organized environment around them. This skill has helped me since the beginning of the semester. Prior – Emerging Experience: I connect all readings assigned, to a prior or emerging experience. This has proven to be one of the most helpful things I have done. I’m able to remember information and details quickly when I link it to something personal. Reflection: I have understood all the areas I need to work on in order for me to reach my ideal goal in this class. I have shown that in my power point and explained what I’ve learned and what I’ll do.
11. Deep Attention The first time I remember using deep attention was when we took out our phone to observe them. While doing so I was given the chance to look at my phone for the first time. I never know my camera was in the shape of a square or that there where hundreds of oily finger print on my screen. This activity gave me the time to look at things much closer than I use to.
