Royal Marines Project Recommendation Page 2 1 year
1. Throughout the project, communication was always going to be the key issue and also
marketing on a shoestring. Shaun remained unfazed by the difficulties I presented to
him which gave me confidence, his comments and appraisal of problems were mature,
clear and concise. His suggestions on social media marketing such as facebook, blogs
and website were eyebrow raising but I was learning new skills and they fitted in with
my modernising agenda for the RMA.
Shaun's personal characteristics are punctuality, non-confrontational, creative, friendly
but sufficiently distant to remain objective and positive. He drives the project and
frequently asks for feedback which maintains discipline on quality and the time line.
This was important as I had no one to delegate tasks to so Shaun had to drive and
motivate me to achieve the task elements. He did this sympathetically and we had no
fall outs or disagreements.
This was no, "Doctor/Patient", consultancy, he placed me as the expert client and kept
me focused, clear and on track to meet the brief. He worked with me, not for me. I had
an idea what I wanted and he clarified it, I wasn't sure how to get there and he offered
me a range of suitable routes, I wasn't sure if I could get there, he guided me and
motivated me. Was he effective? Yes.
Shaun has proved to be broadly effective over the whole brief and it was very brave of
him to assist in this difficult community project given the short amount of time available.
The outcomes from the project have been pleasing and have set a stable platform for
my future plans for the RMA Wolverhampton.
