1. And Some Of The Hard To Swallow Facts
Black Lives Matter
2. Where did it start?
• In 2012, 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was killed by a neighborhood watch man by the name of
George Zimmerman who felt as if Mr. Martin was out of place in the neighborhood that he was
just walking through to get home. After trial Zimmerman was then acquitted of all charges.
3. What happened next?
• It was this incident that sparked the
#BlackLivesMatter movement moments later
by Patrisse Cullors. Cullors created the social
media hashtag and then Opal Tometi created
the website and all social media platforms that
would soon connect people across the country.
4. Has it changed?
• Hundreds and hundreds of African
Americans continued to lose their
life due to racism and unfortunately
a lot due to police brutality.
• Even after Trayvon Martin it never
ended, it only got worse. Or as some
may say more was shown to the
world.
• After the recent events of George
Floyd the biggest revolution was
created. A revolution that is bigger
than the Civil Rights Movement ever
was!
5. What now?
• Organizations, companies, brands and influencers
from all over the world have come together to make
a stand against racism.
• Black Lives Matter is bigger than just police brutality,
but also about racism, systematic racism, and the
constant mistreatment and violence that continues
to happen without any repercussions.
• Millions of dollars have been donated to
organizations helping victims who are in prison,
protestors, victims of racism, victims of police
brutality, and much more.
• Companies have completely changed their outlook
including changing their staff and aiming to be more
diverse!
