innovators in the space, have announced a merger; forming an auction powerhouse with a
combined 793,000 registered users in 200 countries and $150 million in annual sales.
Online art auction houses Paddle8 and Auctionata have announced that they will merge,
making the new internet behemoth one of the top 10 auction houses in the world.
Since their founding, both Auctionata and Paddle8 have gained prominence as online art
marketplaces.
Auctionata and Paddle8 will merge, marking a shift in the online art market
Consolidation has been surprisingly slow in the online art market but now the German
auction site Auctionata, which had raised $88m in equity capital, has merged with the US-
based Paddle8, which has raised $44m. The financials of the deal have not been disclosed.
The companies will remain separate and aim to grow the middle market from vintage luxury
to art.
