3. In the accomplishment of this project successfully, many
people have best owned upon me their blessings and the heart
pledged support, this time I am utilizing to thank all the people
who have been concerned with this project.
Primarily I would thank god for being able to make this
project with success. Then I would like to thank my principle
Mr. Kamal and physics teacher Mrs. Kanika, whose valuable
guidence has been the ones that helped me patched this project
and make it full proof success. His suggestions and his
instructions have served as the major contributor towards the
completion of the project.
Then I would like to thanks my parents and friends who
have helped me with their valuable suggestions and guidance
has been very helpful in various phases of the completion of the
project.
Last but not the least I would like to thank my classmates who
helped me a lot.

5. What is Photodiode ?
A Photodiode is a
semiconductor device
that converts lights
into current
6. Photodiode technology developed since 1940s
Photodiode technology was refined in 1950s .
Silicon has been the favoured material fir photodiode,
germanium can also be used, and its use was first
demonstrated in 1962 by Riesz.
7. Excellent linearity with respect to incident light
Low noise
Wide spectral response
Mechanically rugged
Compact and lightweight
Long life
12. Photodiodes are used as photo detectors.
Photodiodes are used in cameras as photo
sensors, Slotted optical switch, in scintillators
Photo diodes are used in consumer
electronics
13. Advantages:
Photodiode detectors are high NIR sensitivity and high
speed.
Low noise
Low dark current
Disadvantages:
Normal PN junction photodiodes have very high
response times.
It has very low sensitivity
