This document provides an overview of transmission media in cellular networks. It discusses what transmission media is, why it is needed, and the major types used including microwave and optical media. It also describes the branches of the transmission department and provides a case study on adding a new transmission link, covering steps like line of sight planning, implementation, testing, and monitoring.

All the time must the phone send a signal to the MSC even if its not on call
TR
The must link in any cellular network are microwave or fiber
Fiber optical is a class transmission media
up to 50 times more distance than multimode , but it also costs more.
Multimode fiber gives you high bandwidth at high speeds over medium distances ,
To send multi carrier in single mode we need to use like WDM
More capacity can use
The are STM links and a PDH links
The multiplexing of the STM ….. The Lower level of SDH are STM
The STM carried by the SDH
Drop, add function,,,, can drop or add data at any time in the network
Planning response on plan the all network and the new links ,, plan the frequncy , mode , power ,…..
Operation response on Implementation new links then Monitor & follow up all the network
LoS clear : when there is no obstacle route of the link else the site will be rejected
Planning team use frequency, polarization ( H or V ) and radio mode to avoid the interference between the links.
The received power must be equal to the link budget
Fide margin: any lose in the link like contactors , cabal , free space , antenna ,….
Availability of the link bar one year
The multi path and space diversity : happened at the long distance links …. Or we can say in SDH links
